Notes from the Principal
Boone Scientists ROCK Regional Science Fair
We are SO PROUD of our Boone Bears that presented at the Austin Energy Regional Science Fair this past weekend. All students took home First and Second Place Ribbons and really impressed the judges! They also brought home THREE District Awards, out of 7 special categories! Winners of these special awards were –
- Earth Day Positive Futures Award- Samantha Ramos 5th
- Health Through Science Honorable Mention- Madelyn Franz 4th
- Austin Parks Foundation Young Environmentalist Award- Ava Schroeder 3rd
Our school competed against all Elementary schools in the entire district, and other Districts up to San Marcos and Round Rock. We also went up against private schools, home schools, and Science Magnet schools, and we still made our mark! Congratulations to all the young scientists that participated!
Student Medications at School
In the past couple of weeks, we have had incidents of students bringing medications to school, without the parents notifying our school nurses office. Please remember that students are not to have ANY medication with them while at school. All medications, which includes both over the counter medications and prescription medications must be turned in the Nurse’s Office. Attached to this email is a required form that must be completed and turned in along with the medication to be given to the child. There is also and information sheet regarding administration of medications to school.
Please know this is for the safety of your child, as well as all children at Boone. If you have any questions, please contact our School Nurse’s office at 512-414-5318.
Circular Driveway at School
I need to ask for your help. Please always remember that, the front circular drive is not for parking and leaving a car unattended. Although it is marked for student drop off, it should be clearly understood that the car is not to be left unattended. If you need to walk your child in, you need to park in one of the school parking lots, or on the street and walk your child in.Crawford's Connections
Hello Boone Family! I hope this finds you well! We are off to a great spring semester, and I love all the learning and growing going on in classrooms for our students. We are here to make sure all students find success and are prepared for the new adventures that are ahead of them next year. Yes, spring conferences are now complete but know anytime you have a concern or question our doors are open. We are a team, and we will work together to support all students to find success in their learning.
We are required by AISD to conduct safety drills throughout the year. We always want our staff and students to be prepared for what the day might bring our way. The drills are used to practice safety response protocols to ensure everyone stays safe in case of any type of emergency. It is always our goal not to increase our students' anxiety or cause them to be scared during any type of drill we have. We will always announce the drills at morning assembly and ask our teachers to discuss with their students the procedures for the drill before it happens. These practice drills will never be a surprise to our faculty and students.
Unfortunately, we live in a time that one of the drills we have to practice twice a year is a Lockdown drill. I am required to inform our school community when we will conduct this type of drill. We will have this practice drill on Wednesday, March 4th at 1:30. This will conclude this type of drill for the year. Students are trained to move away from sight and to maintain silence throughout the drill. Teachers will ensure all students are accounted for and safely in the classroom. The door is locked and will never be opened to anyone who is on the outside of the door. The drill will last a few minutes and then teacher and students will get back to their learning for the day.
If you have any questions about this type of drill or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out. I am happy to answer any questions that you might have.
As always take care and know my door is open if you ever want to drop by! ❤️

MULTICULTURAL NIGHT AT BOONE! 4/16
Facts, Fun, and Food
Thursday, April 16, 2020; 5:30-7:00 p.m.
We are so excited to be planning our third annual Boone Multicultural Night! We hope that Boone families will join us as we learn about different cultures and countries represented at our school; wherever your family is from (Ireland? Guatemala? Taiwan?) and whatever your traditions are, we want to learn from you as we celebrate our diversity!
FACTS: We need families who are interested in representing their ethnic/cultural backgrounds and/or countries of origin and hosting one of the tables. Some ideas for a table are: a poster with some facts about your country or culture, a game or craft project representing your country, and/or items or photos from your country, such as traditional clothing or a flag.
FUN: We need families (adults and/or children) who are interested in performing something traditional, alone or in a group! These will be short (3-4 minutes each) and there is no need for a lot of preparation!
FOOD: We need families who are interested to bring food to share! Bring a dish that reflects your ethnic/cultural background or country of origin, or simply one of your family's favorites! Anything is welcome, from snacks to main courses, appetizers to desserts!
