Sunrise Family Updates
1.12.24
Hi Sunrise Families!
Hi All - I hope this message finds you well as we wait for the coming storm! You should have received a message that there is no school today. If you did not receive a text update about the school closing, please text YES to 87569 and you can opt in to start receiving messages. Thank you for taking a moment to read the updates and enjoy a few photos from our Sunrise Clubs last Friday.
This week we started our mid-year assessments. Thank you (as always) for making sure your kiddos get to sleep at a decent hour so they can do their very best. I feel like I talk about this a lot because it really makes a huge difference. It is recommended that screens should be shut off an hour before bedtime, which at this age should be around 8 p.m. (believe me, I know how hard this is to achieve and we can only do our best). Assessments will continue into next week and then we will be excited to share with you how your child did.
Teachers also conducted their classroom spelling bees this week, with our school wide bee taking place next Friday, January 19th at 9:00 a.m. Families are invited to attend. We will host the bee in our cafeteria and live stream it to the classrooms (and possibly to families - please stay tuned). We are so proud of all of our brave spellers who gave this a shot!
We will also host our attendance assembly on Friday, shortly after our Spelling Bee, when families head out. Students received tickets this past week, based on their attendance. They will then drop their tickets into bags which correlate to prizes they want to win. Winners will be drawn at the assembly! Thank you for sending your child to school when they are healthy and keeping them home when they are sick.
I wish you and your family a relaxing weekend where you can snuggle up with some good books and then perhaps enjoy some of this snow when the winds die down! Be safe out there on the roads!
Sincerely,
Katie Smullen
Sunrise Principal
