Endangered Plant Species Background
The Acalypha Wigginsii, known as " Wiggin's Acalypha" is native to the Galápagos Islands. It is a stragling woody herb that grows up to 1 m tall.
Threats and causes of extinction.
They are an endangered species because of their small habitat and human construction activities like trampling. In 2000 a telecommunications antennae was built , and it destroyed the largest known population of this species leaving only 100 of them left. It's in danger of facing an extremely high risk of extinction in the wild.

As a result the species has begun to be monitored over the years since 2001 and are continually looking for ways to better manage the species for long term survival.
