Introducing our Points Store

For the first time in the brief history of Horse Betting Direct, it will require HBD points to download your sheets starting this Friday, May 9th. Each individual track will cost 1 HBD point and we will be offering special track packs each day at a discounted price as well. Remember the more points you buy at one time the more money you save.

Get Your Preak On!

After Orb's convincing win in the slop on Derby day all eyes will be pointed toward the Shug McGaughey trained horse this Saturday in the Preakness. While Orb should and will go off as the Morning Line favorite, lets take a look at some of the horses that will try to ruin Orb's run at the Triple Crown. Being on the rail shouldn't hurt Orb too much as he will be coming from the back of the pack either way, shouldn't make too much of a difference.

Only three of the Preakness contenders will be newcomers to the triple crown scene this year, the other six starters will all be coming off their run at the Kentucky Derby. Newcomer Departing looks to be the most hyped of the field coming off a nice win in the Illinois Derby and a strong third place finish behind Revolutionary and Mylute. Departing could easily go off as the second favorite on Saturday and for good reason.

Another newcomer to this years Triple Crown is Bob Baffert's entry Govenor Charlie who had to skip the final couple of Derby preps due to injury concerns. This is a horse that I really like in the exotics and should fill out the exacta or the trifecta. Baffert wouldn't ship a horse that wasn't ready to run and the front running style of Govenor Charlie could play right into the bottom half of the exacta.

A few of the Derby returners to keep an eye on include the threesome Goldencents, Itsmyluckyday and Mylute. Goldencents was no where to be seen in the Derby and looked like he got caught up in the crazy pace set by Palice Malice. Kevin Krigger should be able to sit just behind Govenor Charlie here and get first crack at the pace coming off the turn. Itsmyluckyday may have had the worst trip out of everyone in the Derby and looks to rebound coming into Pimlico. And finally Rosie Napravnik will jump back aboard Mylute after making a great ride to finish fifth in the Derby.

HBD Wins Big in the Slop

Horse Betting Direct's picks for a sloppy derby day turned out to be very profitable, especially in the first part of the day. Our newsletter last week included some horses to watch due to the outlook of heavy rain. Let's take a look at how HBD fared over the entire Derby race card.

Race 1 (3>1-2-6)

HBD's top tier horse 3-Glamour Puss ($7.40/$3.00/$2.40) wins with second pick 1-Apropos ($2.60/$2.20) coming in second starting our day off with a small short priced exacta.

Race 2 (6>1-8-2>)

BOOM! Our top tier play 6-Our Double Play ($29.60/$10.00/$5.60) wins nicely followed by our next two horse in 8-Slan Abhaile ($4.00/$2.80) and 1-River Rocks ($3.40). Completing an exacta that paid $142.60 and a trifecta that paid $338.90. Not to mention our top two picks in the first two races brought home a solid $111.80 Daily Double.

Race 3 (3>6-7-5)

Another top tier winner! 3-Atigun ($13.00/$6.40/$4.00) finishes first completing our first pick3 of the day paying a nice $335.40 and another rolling daily double that paid an even $200.00.

Race 4 (11-3-1>13)

Yet another top tier winner, we had three horses making up our top tier in this race, 1-Strike One ($47.20/$23.60/$14.20) came in first completing yet another solid Daily Double price of $290.20 and an even better pick 3 of $1,555.30.

Race 5 (10>8-11-5)

Looking square into the eyes of a 5 digit pick 4 we swang and missed. Our top tier single 10-Ghost Hunter ($4.00) came in third. We didn't have the eventual winner 4-Bellarmine in the mix.

Race 6 (1-4-7>6)

Back on track with another winner, our top tier in this race had three horses and 7-Berlino Di Tiger ($24.40/$12.80/$6.80) came in with the win. Berlino Di Tiger was also featured in our last newsletter as a horse to watch in the wet conditions. Our fourth horse 6-Chamberlain Bridge ($9.00/$5.00) completed a beautiful $250.80 exacta. While another top tier horse 1-Southern Dude ($3.80) completed another huge $894.80 trifecta.

Race 7 (1-7-6>9)

We missed the winner here in 6-Aubby K, but the other two finishers 7-Burban ($8.60/$6.20) and 9-Holiday Soiree ($8.00) were two of our top four horses in this race. 7-Burban was also featured in last weeks newsletter pointing toward horses who could excel in the weather.

Race 8 (3-4-5-9)

Just like in race 7 we missed the winner of this one, but had two of the top three in our picks. In our last newsletter we talked about this race being the toughest for us to cap.

Race 9 (8-9>1>3)

Two horses in our top tier and 9-Delaunay ($5.80/$3.80/$3.00) wins running away starting off a nice pick 3 heading toward the Kentucky Derby.

Race 10 (8>4-1-9)

With the scratch of 9-Point of Entry our top tier pick 8-Wise Dan ($3.20/$2.60/$2.20) wins this race with amazing ease.

Kentucky Derby (3-14-8-12)

16-Orb won going away from the field, while he wasn't in our top four he was just outside as our fifth pick on the board. We didn't see the 4-Golden Soul being any where near the front of this one as he spoiled what could have been a nice payday.
