Periodic Trends

Ionization Energy- is the energy required to remove an electron from an atom or ion in the gas state. The trends are that when you go down a group on the table the energy decreases, although when you go across the table the energy increases.

Atomic Radius-
the mean or typical distance from the center of the nucleus to the boundary of the surrounding cloud of electrons. The trend is that when you move across the table the atomic radius decreases. When going down a group the radius will increase.

Electronegativity-is a measure of the tendency of an atom to attract a bonding pair of electrons. When going left to right across the table the trend will increase because of a stronger attraction. From top to bottom the number will decrease.
