COVID Health & Safety Reminders
As we move into cold and flu season and begin to see an uptick in positive COVID-19 cases amongst our students and staff, please be reminded of the health and safety protocols in AISD’s Return to Learn Plan:
- Parents of all students must screen children for symptoms and take the temperature of each of their children before their child attends school every day. Students who have an elevated temperature above 100.4°F OR have any COVID-related symptoms must report the symptoms to their campus nurse and stay home (Please DO NOT send kids with symptoms to school).
- All students shall wear face coverings at all times while on Aledo ISD property that social distancing, maintaining six feet of distance, is not possible. Face coverings should cover both the nose and the mouth of the user.
What to Expect if there is a Positive Case at McAnally
Parents will receive email notification if a student or employee tests positive for COVID-19. If it has been determined that your student was in close contact with someone who tested positive, you will receive an additional notification.
Please Follow these Guidelines if someone in your family has tested positive or been in close contact with someone who has tested positive:
- If someone in your household tests positive, notify AISD immediately through the COVID Reporting Form and do not send anyone from the household to school.
- If someone with whom a student had close contact has tested positive, notify AISD immediately through the COVID Reporting Form and do not send that student to school.
Aledo ISD COVID-19 Tracking
Student Absence vs. Quarantine
If your student is not feeling well and/or has COVID symptoms, please contact the school to notify us of their absence. If symptoms subside and the student is able to come back to school, they will then be provided make-up work for their absence. If the symptoms worsen and they test positive for COVID, please complete the COVID reporting form and the school will notify you regarding the specific quarantine guidelines. The quarantine process is initiated by the school when we receive a COVID Reporting Form.

Core Class Updates
ELAR
ELAR- We hope that you have a wonderful Thanksgiving Break! If your student is able to read their A.I.R. book during the break, that would be fantastic!
Math
Math
In math this week we will continue our focus on percents. We will review how to find the part, whole, or percent when given information in text. We will spend time relating this to holiday shopping, finding the tax of an item, or the tip. Students will take their Unit 5 test on Friday when they return from Thanksgiving break.
PreAP Math
In PAP Math we will complete our unit on percents. We will review how to find the part, whole, or percent when given information in text. We will spend time relating this to holiday shopping, finding the tax of an item, or the tip. We will also show students how to calculate the percent change. Students will take their Unit 5 test on Thursday and then begin their introduction to Algebra unit on Friday.
This was my pre-ap math enjoying doing their math outside. (With masks on of course)
Science
Science
After Thanksgiving break students will be researching about a specific energy source and presenting it’s advantages and disadvantages to the class. Beginning on Thursday, we will begin reviewing by creating one-pagers, like we did at the end of our Life Science unit.
Social Studies
When we return from our restful holiday break, we will begin to look at WWI, WWII, and the Holocaust of Europe.
Electives Updates
Letters from the Library
I cannot believe how fast this year is flying by. I am so grateful for all my students and staff here at McAnally they really are the best. Few reminders and updates here in the library:
1. We have our 20 finalist that will be participating in our McAnally School Spelling Bee, there was some tough competition and even tougher words. My 20 finalists only missed two words or less out of 25 words. I am so proud of all my students who tried out and gave it there all.
2. Please enjoy your library books and remember to return them when you are through reading them so others can enjoy them too. This year at McAnally students are able to check out 3 books at a time for up to 3 weeks. If your child is learning remotely they may have up to 5 books out at time. If your child still has books from last school year kindly return them to as soon as possible so that we can get them to the correct campus.
3. This is a very unique year and has proven to be difficult in so many ways. Yearbook wouldn’t be what it is without you! I want to thank all of my parents who have been uploading me pictures through the app Yearbook Snap or online through Community Upload. I could not make the yearbook personal without your help. If you have not downloaded the app (Yearbook Snap) or used community upload yet there is still time. Access code is mcanally (make sure not to use capitals and no space or it will not work).
I hope everyone has a restful break!
