In Language Arts, students learned about the author's point of view, author's opinion, the big idea in a text, pros and cons along with developing their own opinions. We read all about the pros and cons of wearing school uniforms. Children were able to organize their thoughts, ideas, and opinions. I think that it is safe to say that most of the second graders were against school uniforms! :-) Hearing their reasoning and opinions made us proud. It is amazing to witness our students implementing what they have learned into their thoughts and ideas.

Our next ELA unit is all about fairy tales! Students will learn why we read and compare traditional tales from cultures around the world. We will focus on how writers create different versions of the same story and how writers develop a written piece with effective sentence fluency and word choice.

In math, we have continued working hard on double and triple digit addition and subtraction. Students have learned multiple strategies to subtract. Our second graders have AMAZING minds! These new concepts are difficult; they are becoming more and more confident each time we practice! In future weeks, we will continue working with multiple digit subtraction up to the 100's place along with solving and discussing complex addition and subtraction story problems

Order your yearbook!

Your student should have brought home a yearbook order form this week. All students who wish to order a yearbook must do so in advance. Each yearbook will cost $16.50. We are collecting orders and payments now.

Order forms will also be available on the Woods Creek website as well!

Please place your yearbook order as soon as possible.

Orders are due by Friday, March 16, 2018. Yearbooks will be available for students to bring home in late spring, before school is out. We do not order extra yearbooks, so if you wish to receive one, you must place an order by March 16th.
