Counselor's Corner

Kindergarteners are learning what to do if someone is annoying. They practiced using Stop, Walk and Talk with common scenarios. If someone does something that annoys you, the first step is to make eye contact, use a clear voice and say “Stop” and include the behavior that is annoying. The other person should just Stop what they were doing. If the behavior continues, the student should walk away and ignore the problem behavior. If it still continues after that, then students should go Talk to a trusted adult for help. This system can work well for siblings too. Keep an eye out for receiving a tip sheet for how to use Stop, Walk and Talk at home. Lori Shaw, School Counselor, LShaw@methacton.org 610-489-5000 X41207.
