End of the Year Events by Audrey
As we know it, the end of the year is approaching rapidly. School ends on Tuesday, June 4th. But before summer starts, we have some exciting events coming up!
First, we have the Bravo Assembly. The Bravo Assembly is where all the classes will be acting out presentations all about our class act musician of this year, Pytor Illich Tchaikovsky. It will be very fun and entertaining, and a good thing to look forward to.
We then have the staff VS. 8th grade Kickball Game. It’ll be so fun to watch the staff and 8th grade have a competitive game of kickball!
After that, we have the Pep. Rally and M.S. academic awards. We’ll all have fun at the Pep. Rally and M.S. academic and sports awards. Make sure to congratulate the people who got awards!
And lastly, we have the end of the year carnival. Come and join our school at this carnival! There will be games, food, and your friends to hang out with! Don’t miss it!
That’s it for the rest of the year! Come and have fun at the carnival, watch the Bravo Assembly, watch the Kickball Game, and have some more fun at the Pep. Rally and congratulate the people with awards!
Class Act Program
At the Pacific Symphony there were also great dancers. They danced and expressed the tone of the music. They would even made a story out of the music that was playing. Ian taught us all about Tchaikovsky’s life and how no one really liked his music. Then one day a widow helped him out and supported him. Then we was able to compose music and ballets such as the Nutcracker, Swan Lake, the waltz from Sleeping Beauty, and much more.
We have had a great year learning about Tchaikovsky, but Class Act is not over. We still have the Bravo Assembly when we get to perform for Ian. In conclusion we learned a lot about Tchaikovsky and music this year.
Exciting Historian Election
Everyone in 5th through 8th grade, including the teachers, filed in through the doors of the sanctuary. As everyone settled down, the elections began.
Everyone said their speeches, speeches after speeches. But the thing that was most surprising was that there were FIVE candidates running for historian: Coral, Julia, Annabelle, Shreya, and Grace. All their speeches were amazing, but we all knew only person would be elected for this position.
As soon as the speeches were over, Mrs. Bridgman released classes one by one to vote. Everyone filed in their votes, all the candidates anxious for who was going to be elected and who was not going to be.
After voting, everyone had to go back to class. Everyone was nervous and wondering who won what position. But the big question was who was going to be the next historian for RHLS’s ASB for 2019-2020? As the day finally came to an end, middle school in study hall and 5th grade packing up, the ASB leaders for 2018-2019 went from class to class telling everyone who had gotten what position. Everyone was wondering who got the position of historian. And at the end of the day, Shreya Pandoh was the next 2019-2020 ASB historian.
Great job to all the candidates and congratulations, Shreya!

Interviews
Learn Your Math Facts, People! by Eddie
While interviewing Christian Parske, I realized all the things I had done wrong in my life. Learn your math facts, people. They will prove more useful than you ever thought.
The way to get a good job is to simply do well at math and other things, so you may just find yourself with a high paying job.
Christian Parske was born in Irvine, Orange County, California. Right now, he is eleven years old and is in the fifth grade at Red Hill Lutheran School. He is very sure he will get a high paying job and one look at his report card will show you.
“I get good grades, so I can have a good job,” says Christian. In twenty years, I am sure Christian is going to own a million dollar corporation.
After interviewing Christian, I have learned that math is more useful than I thought. Math is the most important subject.

Since ASB has been selling Smencils with fruit flavors, some people might be eating more fruit. The flavors include kiwi, pineapple, blue berry, strawberry, and blue raspberry. So that includes if you like fruits, vegetables, or none. You should at least try to start being healthy.
Learn to Plan Ahead by Anna Clara
Her dream is to go to Disney World? She says, “It’s like Disneyland but a whole world of rides.” It sounds so fun.
Bailey also think the library is quite the place to hang out. It’s quiet so you can work. You can get a lot of things done in a short period of time if you‘re focused.
Those are some fun facts about Bailey; you learned so much from her. If I were you, I would use her knowledge from this article and go explore the Redwoods. Go to Disney World because it sounds like quite the dream. And if you need to work hard and concentrate I’d go to the library, if I were you. So plan ahead for your big life that’s ahead of you!

Class Trips
5th Grader Survives Class Trip by Allison, Annika, and Jojo
The trip that brought questions, many questions. Questions filled our conversations.
Kids were asking, “Is there going to be labor? Is it going to be scary? Will we be able to be together?”
Today was the day that our questions were gonna be answered.
This was my first overnight field trip with my class. Later that day, our class stood patiently with fear
Have you ever experienced an overnight field trip? Well, if you haven’t, keep reading and see what it’s like.
On May 18th, 2019, about 33 out of the 40 5th graders at Red Hill Lutheran School drove to Dana Point and experienced what it was like on a boat during the Revolutionary War. Students from Mrs. Mattlin and Miss Evan's class were put on a crew. We tied knots and sang on rowboats. It was really cool. We all had team captains. For breakfast, we had dinner!
Our captain was funny, but strict. Every time you said the wrong thing ,the captain would yell at you. Man, this was the quietest I’ve ever heard my class be!
Island Adventure: 7th Grade Trip by Coral
Not only is this trip fun, but it’s also educational. Going on a hike? You’ll most likely encounter coastal sage or cacti. If your lucky, you might find some sour grass, which tastes like a sour candy. You're sure to learn the many constellations, plants, and animals on Catalina. This trip is a great way to get outdoors, and connect with nature. Since the cabins have curtains rather than doors, some bugs come in. This will give you to chance to learn about bugs. For example, the bug you’ll probably see in your cabins or near lights isn’t a mosquito, but a bug that eats mosquitoes. It won’t hurt you, but you should probably make sure your cabin light is off when you leave. With no doors a cute Catalina island fox might accidentally walk in.
In the end, the 7th Grade Catalina trip is great experience to create strong friendships, get outdoors, and learn about God’s many creations.
Catalina Part 2 by Ava
After food we met up with our group leaders and would do activities. We got to go swim, do a high ropes course, go on hikes, play games with dodgeballs, and garden.
Catalina was a very fun experience. We got to learn a lot of things and ate a lot of sour grass.
Having fun while Learning by Audrey
Think of a place that is wide out open in nature, a place where you can get away from your parents, have fun, and learn. This place you are thinking of is AstroCamp.
AstroCamp is a fun place where you can get away from your parents. It is in Idlewild, and is very fun. You get to do fun experiments, hang out with your friends, and be around nature. One fun part about AstroCamp is the Skycoaster. The Sky Coaster is where you go 40 feet high into the sky, attached to trees, and when you are released, you swing back and forth until you stop. It’s a very fun experience! Of you don’t like heights, try the Long Division! Long division is where you go into a maze that is completely dark and try to get yourself out!
AstroCamp is a very fun experience, and one day you should go and visit!
Travel
Not Your Average Park by Mary
Today I will be telling you about my Spring Break vacation. It all started out when we decided we would go on a trip with an RV to a couple of National Parks. We wanted to take an RV so that we could try it out in case we decided to take an RV in the future. I was so excited because I had never been in an RV before.
Two days before the trip, I had already packed my whole luggage. Then finally the day came, Easter Sunday, the day that we would be leaving for our trip.We set off, first stop, Santa Barbara Beach, we stopped there as our first stop to get some fresh air, we also took some cool photos then set off for our second stop, Yosemite National Park. We spent most of the day driving, from morning to night. We got to our hotel, Doubletree by Hilton. We got a horrible sleep, with the baby occasionally waking up and my dad snoring.
I woke up at 3:30am and never went back to sleep. That morning, we drove another 2-3 hours, then, we got there, seeing the beautiful eye-catching mountains as we entered the national park. Once we got moving outside, we took some wonderful breath-taking photos next to the river and on top of tree logs. We didn’t spend much time there, but anyways, after that day at Yosemite, we headed back to the hotel.
Next day, next stop. Sequoia National Park. We drove about two hours then started a little hike. There was some snow but it wasn’t cold.We saw the “General Sherman”, the biggest tree in Sequioa. The trees were so tall that my neck hurt looking up so much. After seeing the tallest trees in the world, we started to head home, 4 hours later, we arrived!
It had been a long road trip, but it was definitely worth seeing the beautiful parks!
Loving London by Natalia
My favorite part was when I went on the Harry Potter tour in and I got to see all of the sets, props, and scenes. I also got to see all the wigs and masks. In London I got to see Wicked the musical and I loved to see that. I also got to have tea at Fortnum and Mason for lunch and I love that meal. If I could I would go back!
