READING WITH THE CHEETAHS
January-February 2018
READING RECAP
As usual, a lot of reading and a lot of hard work has occured in reading groups since we returned from winter break. Look below to see what students are currently working on!
Kindergarten
Kindergarten readers have been identifying repeating patterns in their text. They have discovered how seeing patterns can help them read new and challenging pages in a text.
2nd Grade
2nd grade students are strengthening their ability to retell a story orally and through writing by recording key words from the beginning, middle, and end of a story.
5th Grade
These students are using a Chunk & Put Together strategy to determine what an author's main idea of a Non Fiction text is.
Grades 3-5
For students in grades 3-5 who are able to take their iPads home, please consider using these QR codes and check out these great reading resources!
Grades K-2
Ask your child to show you the 5 Finger Retell strategy after reading a book at home. This is a great way to involve your child in a conversation about their reading while promoting comprehension skills at the same time.
