Celebrating Our New Playground

Riverside Playground Dedication

Y-Camp teaches self-reliance, instills a love for nature and the outdoors, and builds character and leadership. Riverside 6th graders have been loving Y-Camp this week. Activities have ranged from toad catching to team building and challenge course skills.

A BIG Thank You to our PTO for supporting this awesome experience for our kids!

The Riverside Way - Character Education

Starting in October, each classroom is going to be teaching, reinforcing, and identifying a character trait of the month! October's trait will be RESPONSIBILITY. Throughout each month, students will be able to earn "Caught Ya's" from any staff member for displaying one of the seven Riverside Character Traits. These "Caught Ya's" will be displayed on a bulletin board and then entered for a monthly drawing. In addition, each teacher is going to select two students that most frequently demonstrated the character trait of the month. These students will be given an award at a monthly assembly! Parents, please team with us to promote character education! We are excited to grow young adults that have the CHARACTER that we want and appreciate! Check out the "Caught Ya" to see the other traits!

Box Tops for Riverside

It is time to start sending in your Box-tops. Please send them in to School by October 25th for our first Submission deadline of October 31, 2019. The BTFE collection process is changing, please take time to read the attached flyer for the new process. It is important to scan your receipts within 14 days of purchase. Scanning your receipt only takes a few seconds, and many times we are granted bonus box tops as well, if you have products with both traditional and the digital Box Tops scanning them gives extra credits. Please help to make our goal of $1,000 this year. If you have questions on the process you can email Olivia McGregor at

Lost and Found Update

Due to the large number of items left unclaimed in last years lost and found, we are trying out a new system this year: Roving "lost and found racks."

  • Where can I find the racks? Two racks of lost and found items will be rotated around the school grounds when school is let out (weather permitting). Please check the racks for missing items.
  • What if I don't pick my student up from school? You can direct your child(ren) to search the racks or visit with Mr. Trout for help locating missing items.
  • Current Lost and Found Status: We have 40+ hoodies/sweaters, 10+ water bottles, and an assortment of tupperware.

Lastly, as we are checking lost and found items we will do our best to identify owners. If you mark your chid's items with a first and last initial it would greatly assist us with this process.
