The Riverside Squawker
A Newsletter for our Riverside Community
Week of November 5th
from the Principal
Thank you so much for engaging in parent-teacher conferences and our school Book Fair. Our students are blessed to have families who take such an active role in their education. Thank you also to our wonderful PTO for taking such great care of our teachers. Our bellies were full and hearts were happy throughout conference week. #RiversidePTORocks
As we enter into this next season, there will be many opportunities to serve around the school, attend music programs, choir, band, and orchestra events. I encourage you to read through our newsletter carefully. Additionally, we recognize the upcoming holiday season can be a stressful time. Please remember to engage in self-care activities as you also seek to care for others.
HALLOWEEN AND HARVEST FUN!
October 31st was a great day for the soul of Riverside. There was laughter, connection, joy and treats EVERYWHERE! Thank you to our parent community for all of your support and especially to our teachers for allowing our students to engage in celebration and fun together.
Operation Wish Book is a community based project designed to enable less fortunate children to receive new books for Christmas. Riverside will be collecting newly purchased books through November 18th. Books may be sent to the classroom or dropped off in our library.
Children who read, succeed. Children who give, learn to be generous.

Folkstyle, Freestyle and Greco-Roman WrestlingWant to join Timberline Youth Wrestling? This program is for boys and girls, ages 5 years – 18 years. Wrestlers participating at the Junior High and High School levels may compete in dual meets and tournaments after school season has ended.
The Riverside Way - Character Education
November's trait will be KINDNESS. Throughout each month, students will be able to earn "Caught Ya's" from any staff member for displaying one of the seven Riverside Character Traits. These "Caught Ya's" will be displayed on a bulletin board and then entered for a monthly drawing. In addition, each teacher is going to select two students that most frequently demonstrated the character trait of the month. These students will be given an award at a monthly assembly! Parents, please team with us to promote character education! We are excited to grow young adults that have the CHARACTER that we want and appreciate! Check out the "Caught Ya" to see the other traits!
Lost and Found Update
Due to the large number of items left unclaimed in last years lost and found, we are trying out a new system this year: Roving "lost and found racks."
- Where can I find the racks? Two racks of lost and found items will be rotated around the school grounds when school is let out (weather permitting). Please check the racks for missing items.
- What if I don't pick my student up from school? You can direct your child(ren) to search the racks or visit with Mr. Trout for help locating missing items.
- Current Lost and Found Status: We have 40+ hoodies/sweaters, 10+ water bottles, and an assortment of tupperware.
Lastly, as we are checking lost and found items we will do our best to identify owners. If you mark your chid's items with a first and last initial it would greatly assist us with this process.
