A Registration Horror Story
I know it's probably not the best thing to scare you right before registration, but it's Halloween, what do you want from me?
"It'll all be over by this time tomorrow," Ruth said to herself. The autumn leaves were falling and the night air bit sharply when she breathed.
"And you'll get all the classes you want, because you register first," her friend Jackie said.
"I hope so, but it's gotta be PERFECT."
As the moon glowed brightly in the blackness above, Ruth was ready to complete her registration ritual: The Scrawling of the CRNs. Her schedule had been solid for weeks, but she had yet to make it completely final by writing each of those important numbers in her prized notebook, the one she brought home from Vertecchi, her favorite store when she studied abroad in Rome. She sat at her desk as she had many times over the years and grabbed her writing instrument, a Pilot Precise V7 Retractable with black ink. This would be the last time she did this. Memories came rushing back from all the times before and the great knowledge she'd gained, the fun she had, and the friends she'd made along the way. At that moment, she decided she wasn't quite ready to end this journey. She grabbed her jacket and headed toward the quad - one long look at that harvest moon and she'd call it a night.
Ruth made her way through the quad. There were revelers about and she casually passed them, making haste for her favorite spot on campus. Under the hedge, she laid down and looked up at that great, big moon and pondered her final semester: what she would do after, her final classes, and of course those last CRNs. As her thoughts began to fade, her eyelids grew heavy, and before she knew it: she was asleep.

Honors Activities Board and Temple Community Outreach are teaming up for a collaborative service event. We have partnered with the TU “Adopt-A-Block” initiative and will be working to clean up an off-campus block. This initiative seeks to beautify areas surrounding Temple in an effort to show our respect and appreciation for the North Philadelphia residents with whom we share this community. We are looking for some Honors students to spend two hours with us and be a good neighbor!

"HELLO! Ma'am, you can't sleep here."
Ruth awakened to a rude beam of light and a gruff campus safety officer.
"Oh, I'm sorry - I certainly didn't mean to, she said. What time is it?"
"Quarter to 3," he replied.
"OH NO. Registration is soon!"
She took off back to her room, grabbed the notebook out of her desk and scribbled down those CRNS. Quicker than you can think, she'd set her alarm for 6:45 and her head hit the pillow.
When the alarm sounded, she thought about snoozing it, but remembered the benefit of priority registration. Ruth returned to her desk, popped open her notebook and powered up her laptop. She put on her headphones and cranked the Rolling Stones. On the laptop screen, she navigated to TUPortal. It felt weird, this final registration. The darkness outside would soon give way to light, she thought.
She thought wrong.
As Ruth entered CRN after CRN, she was denied access to class after class. She did it repeatedly, to no avail. How could none of her classes be open at 7:00:01 AM she thought. She flew to the window and looked up in the sky and the moon scowled back. And as she did, the clock struck: 7:04:00 PM.
