The "U" and Now
UCISD Staff eNews & Events...Week of December 3, 2018
The 13th-annual tamalada will be held on Thursday, December 13th at the Willie De Leon Civic Center from 5pm to 7pm. The event, hosted annually by Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District sponsored by First State Bank of Uvalde aims to bring together the Uvalde Community to enjoy a free tamale dinner, enjoy student performances and indulge in a little holiday shopping while supporting district student organizations.
Each year, volunteers make thousands of tamales of several varieties. At service time, various student groups, teachers and administrators lend a hand, whether it’s helping with serving the meal, welcoming the community or helping elderly visitors find a seat.
In conjunction with the tamalada, the school district also hosts a holiday craft fair. The craft fair is a great opportunity for guests to begin their holiday shopping. The Craft Fair offers a wide variety of items.
The tamalada is a wonderful event, which brings the community together. Area businesses are encouraged to volunteer to help prepare for the event by volunteering on Wednesday, December 12th and Thursday, December 13th. Volunteers can signup with Anne Marie Espinoza by email at amespinoza1075@uvaldecisd.net or by phone at 830-278-6655 extension 1075. The tamalada is a special gathering for our community made possible by First State Bank of Uvalde and the wonderful volunteers who work hard to make the event possible!”
