The West Clermont Experience
For the month of October we are featuring the West Clermont Experience and highlighting people and programs that make an education in the West Clermont School District unique. In this issue, check out how Future Ready is not just a catch phrase, it is what we are doing every day here in West Clermont. See how our Project Lead The Way students at West Clermont High School are being prepared for good, high paying jobs in the highly in demand world of advanced manufacturing.
West Clermont Words - By Natasha L. Adams, Superintendent
With this blog, I will discuss a variety of timely issues and provide information that I hope will be helpful to West Clermont students, staff, parents, business partners and community members. It's entitled West Clermont Words because words can help us tell our story, make us more connected, and help us see hope and possibility for our future.
Summerside and Willowville Construction Update
Construction on the new Summerside and Willowville continues with a push to get the buildings under roof and closed in to facilitate working on the interior finishes throughout the winter months. The masonry contractors are working on finishing the first floor outside walls and are working on the second floor walls as the structural steel is secured into place. The structural steel contractors are currently erecting bar joist, beams and decking to support the second floor. The concrete contractors are pouring the concrete floors on the second level as soon as the released by the steel contractors.
The utility contractors are on site and working to keep up with the masonry contractors. Duke Energy has installed gas into each site with electric to follow. We expect roofing to start mid-November.
Both buildings are being built by Conger Construction with the work being staged to best facilitate the schedule and budget, therefore, as you drive by the sites you may notice a difference in appearance. We are still on schedule to demolish the existing buildings in June 2019 and open both new buildings for the 2019-2020 school year. You can see updated pictures on each building below.

Meet The Nurse Practitioner at the Wolves Wellness Center
Dena Richter is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and she provides medical care at the Wolves Wellness School-based Health Center located at West Clermont Middle School. Dena can provide complete primary care to all ages but she has a particular interest in adolescent health, patient education and preventive care.
Dena explains, “Adolescence is such a changing time in a person’s life that can be difficult for some. I feel this is the time for health care providers to talk to and educate their patients in this age group. They need physical, mental and emotional support through this changing time in their life. I enjoy educating patients. When people understand why something is happening, they are more likely to be compliant with their plan of care. Preventive care is very important to me. If we can prevent illness and diseases, we keep the community healthy. School Based Health is important to the community due to the convenience of care. This helps decrease absenteeism and tardiness for the students and their parents. I am excited to return to the district where I went to high school as a nurse practitioner and give back to the West Clermont community.”
Prior to getting her Master's Degree in Nursing and her Post Master's Degree Certificate as a Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Cincinnati, Dena attended Glen Este High School and is a proud member of the Class of 1992.
