Battle of the Books
The Battle of the Books is a popular activity in the library during the month of May. The library sponsors battles for 1st-4th grade every year. Our 4th grade campus winners went on to represent our campus at the District battle at Wetmore Elementary. All of the students are winners because they all get to read and enjoy great literature!
1st Grade Research
First grade research into things in the past continued into May with the students completing the Gather Stage of Guided Inquiry. They then wrote and illustrated about what they learned and shared it with their peers. One of our favorite quotes from a first grader was, "I didn't know that kids played out in the streets in the past!"
4th Grade Research/Science Stations
Fourth grade wrapped up the year with research on animal adaptations. They rotated through stations and completed a graphic organizer. They utilized Britannica, PebbleGo, National Geographic Kids and BBC Science to take notes on their animal's adaptation. Once their research was complete they chose between two different apps on the iPads to create their final product.
Kinder Alphabet Fair
To close out a fun year with the kinder students in the library we held our 2nd annual Alphabet Fair. The kinder students tried to "win" words at seven different carnival type games. The games were manned by fantastic fifth graders and all had a great time.
