PANTHER NEWS
November 2020
message from the principal
Dear Purdy Families,
November is one of my favorite months of the year! Although we’ve all faced many challenges in 2020, it is still important to recognize and give thanks for the many blessings in our lives. I am extremely thankful for the many blessings in my life including working with the remarkable children, parents, staff, and community members at Purdy Elementary.
This month Purdy Panthers are focusing on GRATITUDE. While it’s pretty intuitive to know our expressions of gratitude might benefit another person (and that’s enough motivation!), there are also many scientifically proven benefits of gratitude including:
1. Gratitude opens the door to more relationships
2. Gratitude improves physical health
3. Gratitude improves psychological health
4. Gratitude enhances empathy and reduces aggression
5. Grateful people sleep better
6. Gratitude improves self-esteem
7. Gratitude increases mental strength
As each of us enters this season of thanksgiving, let’s remember to be thankful for those in the Purdy community who strive to provide quality education, care, and support for our students and each other. You never know when your actions or words of gratitude may provide needed comfort for an individual going through challenges. Thank you for partnering with all of us to support our wonderful Panthers! We appreciate your teamwork as we overcome the many challenges, we are all faced with.
With gratitude,
Ms. Kristi Brooks
Principal

COUNSELORS CORNER
Hello everyone!
I hope the start of November finds you and your family doing well. If there is one thing that this year continues to teach us, it’s the importance of being flexible and adapting to new circumstances. What an important skill for us to teach our kids! One way to help kids develop this resilience happens to be the theme for the month of November. Click the link below to take a look at using gratitude as a coping skill to help kids - and everybody else - learn to weather the storms of 2020.

- You will be asked to enter the date of birth for the student whose form you are working on
Login Tips/Troubleshooting PowerSchool ParentPortal:
- Forgot your login credentials? select the “Forgot username or Password?” link on the Sign In page.
- Still having trouble signing in to your existing account, email: powerschool@psd401.net.
Completing your Emergency Contact Update:
- Do I have to answer all the questions? Questions marked with a red asterisk (*) are required.
- What if I make a mistake? If you would like to make a change, click on the underlined field or click “< Prev” to return to a previous page.
- I don’t know what a question is asking. You can contact powerschool@psd401.net to ask any general questions about the form or the Emergency Contact Update process.
I’ve completed the form, now what?
When you have finished entering your information, click “Submit.” This will send all of the information you’ve entered to the school. If you cannot click on this button, you will need to make sure that you have answered all the required questions.
What if I have more than one student in the district?
Do I need to do this for each child? Yes, because you’ll need to provide information that is specific for each child. We recommend that you submit one Emergency Contact Update and then start another – this will allow you to “snap over” shared family information, which will save you time.
Having trouble? Please email powerschool@psd401.net
