Dear DSPES Families,

We are very excited to meet with you this week during conferences. If you have not yet signed up for a conference please email your teacher or call the office and speak to Tracy for assistance. Our goal is to meet with 100% of our families.

Another huge thank you to our community for your participation in the Step It Up fundraiser. We raised over $20,000 for our school! The PTA will be sharing more details soon.

Book Fair

Check out the Book Fair this week! Students can purchase books before, during, and after school.

Monday 8:15-3:05, Tuesday 8:15-3:05 & 3:30-6:00pm, Wednesday and Thursday 8:15-11:00am

Family Picnic and Fall Festival-

I am so excited for this HUGE, FUN family event. Mark your calendars for Friday, November 5th from 5:30-7:30pm. The event will be outdoors and your children will have a blast! Check out these SignUpGenius Links for how you can volunteer and see the cute flyer below this message.

Original Art Works Orders

Orders are due this Wednesday, October 27. Money raised is used to purchase ALL art supplies that your students will use throughout the school year in art class. Orders will arrive before winter break and in time for holiday gifts! Student artwork will be returned along with your order. Please make your check out to the DSP PTA. Thank you SO MUCH for supporting the Desert Springs Art Program!

Come join our Grand Canyon Trekkers Program!

The program is offered to all of our 1st -6th graders during lunch recess on Mondays and Wednesdays. Students will either walk or run around a 1/4 mile course in the field. A company called Fitness Finders supplies our lanyards and students scan their Trekker badge after every lap they complete. It's a great way for students to be active and do something a little different during the lunchtime recess.

If you would like to be involved as a scanner or motivator for our runners please use the sign up genius to become a part of this fun program!

Substitutes Needed

We are in great need of subs! Do you have a Bachelors degree? That is what you need to apply! When you become a sub, you can pick what days you want to work and you can set it so that you only work at Desert Springs! If you or someone you know is interested in a position, Tracy Lunn, my administrative assistant, is available to help walk you through the application process. You can call her at 602-449-7100.

- All parents and visitors are required to wear a mask on campus. Please keep this in mind with conferences and events coming up.

-Please do not run across 60th Street. This is incredibly dangerous and we want to teach our children safety around campus. Use the crosswalk.

Thank you,

Raquel Solano

What's Happening Around Campus and PVUSD:

  • Volunteers- We love volunteers on campus! I originally planned on doing some onboarding but realized it is easiest for families for me to give you the information on paper. If you are interested in being a site volunteer, please get the volunteer information and application from the front office. You can also email me or your teacher to put it in your child's folder.
  • Nominate a teacher for the Silver Apple award- a teacher award for excellence from Channel 3. There is a blue copy on the table in the front office. Please fill it out and return to the office.

Structured Dress Code

Structured Dress 2021-2022 School Year

As you plan for this school year, remember that our structured dress code is mandatory. I appreciate your support in keeping the integrity of our structured dress code. It greatly impacts our learning environment in a positive way. Please note the colors listed. These are true colors, not variations.

Student tops should be a polo style shirt in red, pink, white, black, light blue or navy.

Bottoms should be khaki, black or navy.

Spirit Wear- Our PTA is transitioning to a new website, which is where you can purchase spirit wear. Check out the site below and start ordering today!

Free Breakfast and Lunch for All Students

Breakfast and lunch will continue to be free this school year for ALL students. However, we do still need families to fill out the Free and Reduced Lunch form if it applies. Filling this form out supports funding for our schools. Click the link below to fill out the form.
