BIS Newsletter - Week 9 Term 3 2022
Thursday 22nd September, 2022
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
The end of the term is a time to celebrate success and there has been a lot. Thank you all for your continued support of all our programmes, initiatives, activities and events this term.
Here are just a few highlights;
*Sports Camp in Matamata
*EVPRO8 competition
*Winning our Zone Speech competition
*Prize winners in the North Harbour Science Fair Competition
*A fantastic season of Netball and some teams winning their grades
*Writers Festival
*World of Maths visit to BIS
*Place getters in Cheer leading competitions
There have been other highlights and obviously, all students have different things that they are proud of. As a staff, we spent some time looking at individual students who have made significant gains in learning areas that they had previously struggled with. Some students have gone up by a curriculum level or the equivalent of 2 years progress. This has happened through small group interventions, one on one teaching sessions, strong home-school partnerships and dedication from our students. We are extremely proud of those students who have had struggles with their learning but have persevered to make progress.
Our goal is to send all students off to high school feeling ready for the next step in their learning and ready to take on a new challenge. The effort that we are seeing from so many students indicates that our students are well prepared for the next learning journey.
Our school production will be performed next week. I hope that many of you get to come along and see our students dancing, singing and acting on stage. It is always wonderful to see their talents being recognised by an audience and for students to have opportunities to be involved in activities that are outside their regular 9-3 class programme. I want to publicly acknowledge the cast and Mrs Dooley who have worked so hard with very little time, additional support and resources to ensure that this production has been able to be ready to perform in just 9 weeks of rehearsal time. They have done an impressive job and I am looking forward to seeing them all shining on stage next week.
Monday is a public holiday and then we have just 3 days left of term 3. Thank you for your continued support and have an enjoyable 2 week break from the school routine.

BIS at EPro8
From the 11 teams who took part in our internal EPro8 competition we took the 4 leading teams to the inter-school competition last week where "Team Literally" made it through to the semi-finals being held this Thursday. Congratulations and good luck to Aisling, Ashley, Tamaki and Maggie!

North Harbour Science Fair
BIS joined the NIWA North Harbour Science fair competition last 9th September 2022 at Massey University.
We had four entries in different categories and we won two awards. It was a very great experience for the students and surely they had fun.
The winners are invited for the prize giving award on 27th September at Northcross Intermediate School together with their
family.
