Bishop Kelly High School Library
August 2014
As we begin the 50th year for Bishop Kelly, we also begin an amazing redesign and remodel of the library. This library newsletter will help inform the Bishop Kelly Community about the progress of this remodel, inform teachers, students, and parents about available library resources, and share all the library news.
Library News
Temporary Library for 1st Semester
The library will be located in Room 214 during the remodel. All of the fiction books have been moved here and are ready for checkout. Students can access the 4 student computers, the network printer, and space for study. The library will be open from 7:15 - 4:00 Monday - Thursday, and 8:30 - 4:00 on Friday. We also have a view of the remodel, so stop by and watch the progress.
Destiny Library Catalog
The Destiny Library Catalog can now be viewed at home or on a mobile device. When doing a search for information, a new Universal Search feature will return results that include print books, eBooks, database articles, and websites. Students can also login to their accounts where they can see what they have checked out, renew books if necessary, and have full access to resources.
Library Website
In addition to the physical remodel of the BK library, the library website is undergoing a redesign. This will create a Virtual Library that will become the portal to the many digital resources available to BK Students. Please understand that it is a work in progress and that as new resources become available they will be added to the website. Explore and discover all that is available.
New in the Database Lineup for 2014-15
Databases provide rich, reliable sources for finding information and conducting research. This year some new databases have been added to the offerings from last year. From Gale we have US History in Context, from Infobase we have Bloom's Literature, and we also have Country Reports.
Future newsletters will provide more details on how to use the resources.
