Rihanna - What Now

I chose this song because it reminds me of the way Johnny and Ponyboy had no clue of what to do after Johnny had killed Bob the Soc. Ponyboy was extremely nervous. "A panic was rising in me as I listened to Johnny's quiet voice go on and on. "Johnny!" I nearly screamed. "What are we gonna do? They put you in the electric chair for killing people!" I was shaking. I want a cigarette. I want a cigarette. I want a cigarette. We had smoked our last pack. "I'm scared, Johnny. What are we gonna do?" Ponyboy was going crazy and he was screaming. Rihanna says,

"What now? I just can't figure it out
What now? I guess I'll just wait it out
What now? Somebody tell me
What now?

I don't know where to go
I don't know what to feel
I don't know how to cry
I don't know oh oh why"

This is how Ponyboy was feeling and he didn't know what to do.

Miley Cyrus - When I look at you

I chose this song because it reminds me of the way Ponyboy felt when he realized that Darry was crying in the doorway of the hospital.

Miley says, "When I look at you I see forgiveness."

"Darry looked down and turned away silently. Suddenly I broke out of daze. "Darry!" I screamed, and the next thing I knew I had him around the waste and was screaming the daylights out of him."

Miley also says, "You love me for who I am
Like the stars hold the moon
Right there where they belong
And I know I'm not alone"

"In that second what Soda and Dally and Two-Bit had been trying to tell me came through. Darry did care about me, maybe as much as he cared about Soda, and because he cared he was trying too hard to make something out of me."

This shows how Ponyboy forgave Darry for hitting him and he finally realized that Darry did love him and care about him.

Bruno Mars - Count on me

I chose this song because it reminds me of how close the greasers are and the bond they have together. This song is about being there for a friend and the greasers were always there for one another whenever anything happened. "His father was always beating him up, and his mother ignored him, except when she was hacked off at something, and then you could hear her yelling at him clear down at our house. I think he hated that worse than getting whipped. He would have run away a million times if we hand't been there. If it hadn't been for the gang, Johnny would never have known what love and affection are."

Bruno Mars says "You can count on me like 1, 2, 3
I'll be there
And I know when I need it
I can count on you like 4, 3, 2
You'll be there
'Cause that's what friends are supposed to do"

The gang is always there for Johnny throughout his rough life and they show him love and affection.

Mario - How do I breathe

Mario-How Do I Breathe (Lyrics)
This song applies to The Outsiders because when Mario says,

"It feels so different being here,
I was so used to being next to you,
Life for me is not the same,
There's no one to turn to.
I don't know why I let it go too far", it reminds me of how Darry felt letting things get to far when he was screaming at Ponyboy and slapped him. Darry was really sorry and he didn't mean for things to get that far. He wanted Ponyboy to know he was sorry and that things were really bad without him home.

"When he yelled "Pony, where have you been all this time?" he meant "Pony you've scared me to death. Please be careful, because I couldn't stand if anything happened to you." Ponyboy understood that Darry was sorry and he really cared about him.
