ECHS March Newsletter
Hello ECHS Students and Parents,
As we finish winter term finals this week and look out on the Sylvania and Rock Creek campuses, winter certainly seems like a distant memory. While this week was a very busy and important one for our students, we hope they all take some time to rest, relax and enjoy the wonderful weather we have had as of late.
After Spring Break we will obviously head into the final stretch of the year. Our Seniors will be looking towards graduation and the bright future ahead of them. At the comprehensive high schools teachers and administrators will spend time discussing what has commonly been called 'Senioritis.' That common tendency for second semester seniors to lose focus and direction in the lead up to graduation. As our seniors prepare for their last term at ECHS I have been struck by the opposite phenomenon in our students. So many of them are using this last term as a final opportunity to take on new challenges, try new courses, and stretch themselves learners. It is a testament to the opportunities provided here at PCC, and their diligence as students. I am so thankful to work with all of them.
We hope you all have a well deserved and relaxing Spring Break.

Fall 2018 Registration
This year PCC has changed the fall term registration timeline, and it is a change that we feel will be extremely beneficial for our students. In the past our students registered for fall courses in early August. This posed several challenges for our families as there was limited support at PCC and ECHS and a great many of them were on vacation.
This year our students will forecast for their fall classes in June, before they leave for summer vacation. Our counselors will meet with students in late May to begin Fall term forecasting. Please check in with your counselor if you have any questions.

Essential Skills Testing
ECHS schedules these tests on PCC's Spring Inservice days (when there are no classes) and on Fridays during the Spring Term. Juniors may not take classes on Fridays during the spring term to accommodate these assessments.
Seniors Missing Essential Skills
Our staff has been in contact with Seniors that still need to complete an essential skills subject and we have scheduled SBAC testing sessions this month. Any seniors who have not yet signed up should do so ASAP so that you can meet graduation requirements.
Juniors - 2019-20 Senior Day -Save the date, September 4th, 2019. Manditory Meeting
Our 2019-20 Senior Day will be held on Wednesday, September 4th. This is a mandatory meeting for all 2019-20 seniors, and student attendance is required.
During Senior Day our staff outline all the necessary information for a successful senior year and a post-graduation transition. This event features alumni guest speakers, college admissions experts and financial aid consultants. Students receive their senior portfolios at this meeting which is essentially a comprehensive roadmap to navigating senior year and all important dates and deadlines for successful post high school planning.
Again, all seniors must attend this meeting to remain in our program. So, please make sure to mark your calendars now.
