Scholarship Deadlines
FAFSA (FREE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AID)
FAFSA information will be based on 2015 income. You must fill out a FAFSA each year in college in order to be eligible for scholarships in the following year. If you need FREE assistance filling out the form, please call the North Alabama Center for Education Excellence at 256- 372-4600, ask for Marcus Crutcher or James Thomas. Any student hoping to qualify for work-study programs, Federal student loans, grants or college, academic, athletic, and band scholarships need to complete this form.
Air Force Academy
Students interested in attending the Air Force Academy must submit their Pre-Candidate Questionnaire online between March 1 of their junior year and December 31 of their senior year. Between March 1 of their junior year and December 31 of their senior year, students must also request nominations from a designated nomination category.

Seniors who are considering Auburn, note the dates below:
- Incoming students must complete the scholarship application by February 10 to receive consideration for scholarships.
- Students planning to receive consideration for scholarships must complete the admission application with all required materials received by the January 15 application for admission priority deadline. Students who elect to test after the December ACT and SAT test dates are advised Auburn University cannot guarantee scores will be received and processed by the February 10 scholarship application deadline.

Update on Auburn Scholarship Process - One very important new fact for Auburn scholarships is that students MUST fill out a separate scholarship application in addition to all admission papers for scholarship consideration. More than seventy-nine percent of JSU students receive some form of financial aid. More than $90 million was awarded last year in scholarships, loans, grants, or campus employment. Our Student Financial Services staff is always ready to serve you and answer all of your questions. Students must be accepted to JSU before they can be awarded financial aid scholarships. General Scholarships begin with 22 ACT. ACT 26 will qualify for full tuition and books. ACT 30 will qualify for full tuition, room and board. Most JSU scholarships are online applications.
To qualify for the In-State Scholarships, students must meet the following criteria: Alabama resident or a resident of one of the following Georgia counties: Bartow, Carroll, Chattooga, Coweta, Douglas, Floyd, Haralson, Heard, Paulding, Polk (Documentation may be required), 2015 Alabama high school graduate or 2015 Georgia high school graduate from one of the previously listed counties, entering freshman, unconditionally accepted and U.S. citizen. Official test scores must be on file at JSU prior to the March 1 scholarship deadline.

Entering Freshman Scholarships
- Preview days are available on February 27, 2016, and April 2, 2016.
- Accepted Student Days will be on January 22, 2016, and February 12, 2016.
- The Leadership and Valedictorian Scholarship also require the paper application.
- All scholarship offers, to include ACT/SAT-based scholarships, are only emailed to your JSU email account.
- The scholarship period begins October 1, 2015.
- Selection of scholarship recipients at JSU is highly competitive. Entering freshman academic scholarships based on ACT/SAT and high school GPA are awarded upon receipt and verification of transcripts and test scores. If you qualify for one of these academic scholarships, a formal scholarship offer and acceptance letter will be emailed to your JSU GEM account. The acceptance letter is time sensitive and should be returned within the deadline listed in the letter. All scholarships require unconditional acceptance prior to March 1, 2016, deadline. Incomplete applications cannot be processed.
- Please monitor your JSU GEM email account for important messages from our office. These messages will only be sent to your JSU GEM account. You can log on to your account by selecting this link: http://www.jsu.edu/ and then select the GEM tab at the top of the screen. Your logon information is reflected on your JSU Admissions letter.
- The General Scholarship Committee will convene in April 2015 to make a selection of recipients to open scholarships for the 2015-2016 academic year. Consideration will be made for the general scholarships listed on your submitted application. Students will receive notification of the status of their application around the first week of May through their JSU GEM email account.

Institutional Scholarship information: Scholarships may be retained for the duration of a program provided all other requirements are met. The evaluation committee will determine the type of scholarship the recipient will receive.
Requirements: All recipients must be enrolled for a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester, and all recipients must maintain a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for academic or at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale for leadership.
Your application will be considered when all of the following is received: a completed Drake State Admissions application, an official high school transcript, a letter of reference from a school official (principal, counselor or teacher) or an employer, complete the FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov using Drake’s College code 005260, a 250 word essay explaining the need for a college education, your interest in J.F. Drake State Technical College and your plans for using the scholarship funds.
Middle Tennessee State University
The Fall 2015 Academic Scholarship Deadline is Approaching!
In an effort to recruit more high-achieving students, we will offer academic scholarships to students who have ACTs of 25 or higher (and are otherwise eligible, as noted below), with our highest academic scholarship requiring a 30 (compared to former requirements of 26 and 32, respectively):

Students who plan to enroll this summer or fall must meet our December 1 deadline in order to receive priority consideration for Fall 2015 academic scholarships. They must apply for admission by December 1 and submit all required documents to be considered for guaranteed academic scholarships of $2000 to $5000 per year. Students with an ACT of at least 25 (or 1130 SAT, without writing scores) and 3.5 GPA (typically through the Spring 2014 term) will be considered. For fall scholarships, we are able to accept test scores through the December ACT and SAT dates. We may be able to award scholarships based on later test scores, depending on available funding. Academic Service Scholarship for Valedictorians & Salutatorians
Students with a class rank of 1 or 2 and an ACT of at least 22 (or 1020 SAT, without writing scores) by the February 15 deadline will be considered for an Academic Service Scholarship of $3000 per year. We may be able to award scholarships based on info which arrives after the deadline, depending on available funding. If you know that you will not be able to submit information on an eligible student’s rank before February 15 due to school or district policies, please let me know so that we can discuss options. Buchanan Fellowship Program
December 1 is also the application deadline for the Buchanan Fellowship, a prestigious full-tuition award for incoming freshmen. Recipients will receive full tuition (up to 16 hours) plus $500 per semester, as well as consideration for study abroad scholarship funds and access to special resources and events. Students with a GPA of at least 3.5 and ACT of at least 29 (or 1280 SAT) may apply for consideration. Please note: Unlike other MTSU scholarships, the Buchanan Fellowship typically considers only ACT and SAT scores through the October test date. The scholarship is highly competitive; most recipients will have higher GPA and ACT than the minimum. Information and an application are available via the MTSU Honors College website.

Dream and Foundation Scholarships
Students who plan to enroll this summer or fall can also apply for competitive scholarships such as the DREAM Scholarship (our freshman diversity scholarship) and Foundation Scholarships, including the Centennial Scholarship and SouthEast Bank Scholarship (formerly called the Edscholar Scholarship). International Baccalaureate Scholarship
The International Baccalaureate Scholarship is available to first-time freshmen who are expected to graduate from high school with an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. This scholarship is $1000 per year for four years and can be “stacked’ with another academic scholarship (other than the Buchanan Fellowship). Students must apply for admission and submit an International Baccalaureate Diploma Verification Form by February 15 to be considered. National Merit, Achievement, and Hispanic Scholarships
Our National Merit, National Achievement, and National Hispanic Scholarship programs recognize students who are selected as semi-finalists in the above programs based on their PSAT scores. Qualifying students will receive $6000 per year for 4 years. Students who believe they may be eligible should fax a copy of their semi-finalist notification letter to 615-494-7770; you or another school representative can also send an email to let me know of a student’s status.
Middle Tennessee State University is partnering with Motlow to offer agriculture and agribusiness courses at the Fayetteville campus! Introduction to Agribusiness and Elements of Animal Science will be offered Spring Semester. Motlow State Community College
Completing a scholarship application at Motlow State Community College will enable their Scholarship Committee to consider you for Motlow College scholarships for which you are eligible.

- General Criteria by Category: If you are a high school senior or have never previously attended college, you must:
- Have an admissions application on file in Admissions and Records
- Have paid the admissions application fee, or have the application fee waived
- Have a minimum 6-semester high school transcript including your cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale) through your junior year with ACT scores on file in Admissions and Records.

The Mahtaban Scholarship - For students enrolling in the Graphic Art program who have demonstrated an exceptional ability in art. The amount of this scholarship is $2,400 for an associate degree and $4,400 for a bachelor’s degree.
The Presidential Scholarship – For students enrolling in Nossi College of Art’s Commercial Digital Photography program who have demonstrated an exceptional ability in photography and a promising future as a commercial, digital photographer. United States Merchant Marine Academy

The Department of Mathematics at UTRGV was recently awarded a grant from the National Science Foundation to fund students in an accelerated (5-year) Combined Bachelors/Master program in Math. The program will start Fall 2015, and scholarship recipients will be selected this summer. We are looking for graduating high school students with a calculus background who want to join the program. Qualified students will receive a scholarship of up to $25,000 over five years, depending on financial need.
