Making Our Mark!
Note to Parents: Car Rider Arrival/Dismissal Procedures and General Parking Lot Safety
The recent spur of weather systems has certainly disrupted our "regular" school day schedules. We have seen many snow days-off or two-hour delays - which can be very frustrating for many of us who rely on a structured or consistent schedule.
At this time, we kindly request that parents remain patient during our arrival and dismissal schedule - by following our established procedures of remaining in car lines and following our safety standards for the well-being of everyone at school.
- Follow our school's speed-limit postings (not to exceed 5-mph).
- No Cell Phone Usage while driving in our school lot.
- Drop-off/Pick-up at our established Back-Porch - not the main office.
- Remaining in the established car drop-off/pick-up lane for arrival and dismissal.
- Contacting the school's main office for any dismissal changes for your student.
Please Note: Ultimately, the purpose of the car line is for the safety of our students, staff, guests and visitors. Please do not circumvent the established car lane to our "Back Porch" - which hugs the school sidewalks - by maneuvering around our parking lot and traveling opposite of our one way traffic routes. Oftentimes, many of our parents arrive early to wait at "Back Porch" to make an after-school activity or appointment. The only time you would pick-up or drop-off your child in our Main Office is for a late arrival or an early dismissal - otherwise please use the "Back Porch" location.
Following the above established protocol allows for the smooth, safe and most efficient process to our arrival and dismissal procedures when not taking the bus.
UPDATE: PSSA Assessment Schedule Change
Due to the recent amounts of school closings across the State of Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Department of Education has extended the PSSA Testing window 1-extra week for both (1) Math & Reading (for Grades 3-6) and (2) Writing (for Grade 5).
As a result, the new schedule of assessments at Buckingham are now:
Grade 3-6 PSSA Reading and Math - March 24th through March 31st
Grade 5 PSSA Writing - April 7th through April 10th
Grade 4 PSSA Science - April 28th & 29th (remains the same)
Attendance during this time is imperative but we realize this date change may conflict with scheduled personal plans for travel or doctor appointments. While we appreciate any rescheduling adjustments you might be able to make for appointments, we understand that may not be possible at this time. However, please know the assessments missed will be taken during the "Make-Up" days later in the testing window.
In advance, "Thank You" for your understanding and cooperation!
