Latest Updates
We are in a Nice Groove: Teacher Expectations - Remote Learning 2.0
We are doing such a great job with content, small groups, communication, and documentation that we really only need to KEEP IT UP. Our goal this week is to:
1. Elevate what we are doing: "up" is the only way to go
- Which means go after the few kids still needing to be engaged
2. focus on getting more parents engaged with the websites: which means
- post about it more
- post specific pics of what you want scholars to do on your page
- advertise and draw them in
Previously communicated Expectations
- connect with scholars during small group instruction weekly
- take attendance
- check scholar work, look for incomplete and complete for Q4 grading
- solicit scholar work
- give feedback on scholar work to motivate them
- send follow up emails to targeted and unengaged scholars weekly.
GRADING POLICY
Uplift Survey
You will be receiving one network survey each week through the remainder of the year. Each week’s survey will cover a different and important topic. This is an INCREDIBLE opportunity for your voice to be heard on a variety of important issues that will impact the network in the weeks and months ahead. * Check your SPAM folder if you do not receive the survey links. *

ESL Resources and Instructional Video Updates
A compilation of resources for English Learners has been posted to Uplift’s website here: https://www.uplifteducation.org/Page/16766 Activities are sorted by domain, and communication is available in English and Spanish. ESL-created YouTube video lessons will launch next week! These videos will be Tier II instruction that focuses on vocabulary and phonics. Please continue to work closely with your ESL Campus Coordinator so that ELs can continue to access your campus-specific online instruction.
Paid Time Off (PTO):
We received clarification on how the network is handling time-off requests during the school closure period:
o Since staff are now following remote working expectations during the school closure period, staff are required to submit time-off requests in the event an employee is unable to meet remote working responsibilities for certain days. For example, if you are ill, are traveling on a certain day, or have a conflicting commitment that does not allow you to work remotely then you are to enter your time off request into TEAMS (remember to not request a sub).
o If your plans have changed and you no longer need the PTO request that you originally made between March 16 and May 1 because you are able to meet remote working responsibilities, send me an email with the days that you no longer need your PTO leave request because you are able to meet remote working responsibilities on those days.
A Note about Social Emotional Learning
The Social and Emotional Learning team recognizes that now, perhaps more than ever, our scholars are in need of social and emotional connection and SEL skill development. As such, we are creating easy to access weekly content for teachers across all grade levels that you can include in your virtual (and real-life) instruction! These are simple but powerful activities and practices that will take your teaching and scholar engagement to the next level of excellence. Begin by watching the short YouTube video below that provides step by step instructions on how to access this content in Microsoft Teams. Then, work with your school and other network leaders to add this content into your lessons as you see fit! Be sure to regularly check out the SEL Team Channel as we will add new content every week!
Should you have any questions – don’t hesitate to reach out to Nicholas Pascale, Director of Social Emotional Learning at NPascale@uplifteducation.org.
We hope you enjoy!

Reporting Child Abuse
With that being said:
- pay attention when interacting with scholars during virtual meetings.
- report just as you would if we were in school
Again, these are some harsh times and new things develop and occur in stressful circumstances.
Ed Tech questions:
- If a parent or student has a question regarding Edtech passwords (Study Island, etc.), please direct them to emailedtech@uplifteducation.org. They are responding to emails very quickly.
