MISSION: IGNITING A PASSION FOR LEARNING
Message from the Principal
Dear Families,
Happy Spring-- kind of? These moments of warmth and sunshine are great reminders that warmer weather is ahead! Please help us by encouraging your child to finish the school year strong. We have several weeks of learning yet and we need to make each moment count!
Smart Watches:
This is just a reminder that smartwatches are not allowed at school. As a staff, we have been noticing an increasing amount of them showing up at school. These devices are incredibly distracting to the students during class. Please have your child leave these devices at home. This is also a great time to remind your student that cell phones should be turned off and in their locker during the day. If a student gets caught more than once with their phone on them during the day a parent will need to pick it up from the office.
Opportunity from MPTC:
Moraine Park Technical College is offering Tech Knowledge College (TKC) at the Fond du Lac campus again this summer. TKC is a summer camp for students entering grades 6-8 this coming fall. Please check their website for more information.
District On-Site COVID Testing
The last day for on-site COVID testing is May 9. For information on testing, please see our website https://www.kewaskumschools.org/Content/covidtesting.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Skelton

Celebrations
Mrs. Airaudi had this to share:
"I will be participating in a research project with the University of Minnesota-Duluth and University of Wisconsin- Superior freshwater lake studies departments. We will be collecting and analyzing data related to the impacts of microplastics on Lake Superior and nearby estuaries and their ecosystems. This will entail a week of research and analysis on a research vessel in Lake Superior and in research labs at UW-Superior. We will discuss ways to share the research with educators and students who live and work in areas that could impact the health of the Great Lakes basin."

Student Services Updates
Every year on April 22, people around the world celebrate Earth Day. The day marks the start of the environmental movement in 1970, and for the past 52 years has resulted in policy change and a greater awareness of the environment.
Students watched a video and were quizzed on the important history and facts related to Earth Day. Students were also challenged to participate in some Earth Day activities, which included; planting a tree, picking up garbage, turning off the lights to save energy, limiting the amount of water they use, riding or walking when you can, putting their trash in the trash cans, and always recycle when possible.
Reminders
Please turn in your Kalahari Field Trip Permission Slips!

Students who intend on riding the bus during the 2022-2023 school year should fill out the bus form that was sent home Friday, April 29. If you did not receive one, please have your child stop in the office to pick one up.
