The Buzz at Westbrook School
October 8, 2021
From the Principal...
Dear Westbrook Parents,
We had a wonderful week celebrating the Walk for Westbrook. Thank you to the PTO for hosting such an engaging space-themed event for our students. Thank you to the staff that helped students create rocket ships to fly through space and for helping our students navigate the exploration. Thank you to all of the families who came out to cheer our students on. Westbrook families raised over $20,000 for our school. Thank you so much for your generosity and support!
Parent/teacher conferences are scheduled for Tuesday, November 16th, Thursday, November 18th, and Tuesday, November 30th, from 4:20 pm- 8:20 pm. The signup link will be included in the October 15th newsletter. Parents/guardians will have the option of attending the conferences in person at Westbrook or attending via zoom.
We are planning for our Halloween parade on Friday, October 29th. I will include the parade schedule in next week’s newsletter. All students will come to school in costume. Please help your child make safe, respectful, and comfortable decisions about their costume. Students may wear an appropriate mask in the parade, but not during school. Make-up, weapons, fake blood, or inappropriate dress are not allowed. All costume accessories will be left in the classroom for recess and lunch.
I hope you enjoy your long weekend, and we look forward to seeing our students back on Tuesday, October 12th.
For your Children,
Danielle Crandall

Welcome Fall!
To celebrate the season, families are invited to talk about some of their favorite book characters and create a "pumpkin" together to display in the LRC. They can be brought to school starting October 18 and we will display them on top of the bookshelves with a picture of the book in which they star.
*Please do not use real pumpkins and food. While I am a huge fan of science, we do not want to observe the rotting process of pumpkins and the growth of mold in the LRC :)
Join us in this celebration of books and the season!
Carol Capra
LRC Director
