ESU 11 Website Changes
The last couple of weeks you may have noticed some changes in the website. At the top right corner you will find the links to ESU 11's social media pages. That is a quick way to connect and keep up with what is going on at ESU 11. If you click on the mail icon you can register to receive a weekly email of recent news items that were posted. You will also notice a new registration link on the right hand side. It is even easier to register for workshops online. Below you will see a screen shot of the changes.
Technology Tools
Common Sense Media
Common Sense Media is dedicated to improving the lives of kids and families. This free resource provides teachers with a K-12 curriculum to teach digital literacy and citizenship. On Wednesday, March 13, ESU 11 will be hosting a Common Sense Media workshop. If you are interested in attending you can register here.
The New York Philharmonic Kidzone
This is a great tool for teaching students about composers and musical instruments. This site would be perfect to share on your IWB or have them explore in the computer lab. Your students will enjoy this site! Click on the video below to learn more about it.
Using the NY Philharmonic Kidzone in your Classroom
Storyline Online
Storyline Online is a site that is supported by the Screen Actors Guild Foundation. There are 25 children stories that are read by actors and actresses. For example, if your chose Harry the Dirty Dog, the narrator would be Betty White. Try it out sometime with your students.
Sketch Star
You can create animated comics with Sketch Star. It is free but you will need to register. Students could use this tool to teach or share their knowledge on a concept. You can share the animations online via Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. Below is a video that demonstrates Sketch Star. Click here to go to the site.

Common Sense Media
Jeremy Nielson from Common Sense Media will be here Wednesday, March 13th from 9:00-3:00 in the ESU 11 Conference Room. Common Sense Media is a free online resource that offers information on digital literacy, cyber bullying, plagiarism, internet safety, and much more. Anyone can benefit from this workshop and you can register online at esu11.org.
iPads in Education
Carol Anne McQuire is returning to ESU 11 on April 11th to facilitate a workshop on iPad integration. It will start at 9:00 and end at 3:00. Mrs. McQuire is a Technology Integration Specialist, Apple Distinguished Educator, Discovery Star Educator, ISTE Teacher of the Year and the founder of Rock Our World. Here is a summary of the workshop:
APPy Days Are Here Again!
