December 21, 2022 - NEWSLETTER
Hola familias de Woodcrest,

We have been working hard at school and winter break is a good time for everyone to recharge. Please be sure to get some rest and enjoy time with friends and family. Live on 65: Miss Myra and the Moonshiners
Miss Myra and the Moonshiners bring their formidable 5-piece swing band to the Live on 65 stage on January 5 at Spring Lak Park High School. They are the latest to play the Live on 65 performance series that aims to bring world-class entertainment to the North Metro.
Thanks to generous sponsorship from the Spring Lake Park Lion's Club, tickets are priced for the whole family to attend at $12 for adults and $5 for students/children. Purchase tickets online or day-of at the box office.
We recently caught up with Myra Burnette (Miss Myra) to learn more about the band and what Live on 65 audiences can expect. She spoke with us from New Orleans where she is surrounded by guitars, banjos and a sousaphone and playing music with the locals.
A jugar boliche
This week, students have been enjoying Cosmic Bowling in gym class with Sra. Hazel. Thanks to the PTO grant, Sra. Hazel was able to create a very fun environment with lights and music!
Art Adventure Volunteers Needed in February
PTO will be hosting Art Adventure for all students during library time in February. We need 7-9 volunteers who are willing to meet with students to show them the six pieces from the Minneapolis Institute of Art Collection. No art knowledge is needed-just need to like talking to students and listening to their thoughts. There are several different themes, and this year we have chosen Family, Friends, and Communities.
Each volunteer will be lent a book about the pieces with questions that should be asked to the students. There is also information about the works you can sprinkle into the conversation. We would like these books returned for reuse at the end of Art Adventure.
Each volunteer should plan to spend 6-10 hours volunteering with different classes at school during regular school hours throughout the month. For more information, sign up for training, and to sign-up for specific spots, join the committee group on Konstella.
Each volunteer should attend one virtual training from the Minneapolis Institute of Art called "K3".
Current Virtual Training Dates are:
January:
Wednesday, Jan. 4 from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Thursday, Jan. 5 & 19 from 5:15-6:15 p.m.
Tuesday, Jan 17 & 31 from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
February:
Thursday, Feb. 2 from 5:15-6:15 p.m.
Tuesday, Feb. 28 from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
March:
Thursday, March 2 from 5:15-6:15 p.m.
You can also register to attend a free tour at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts where they will present some of the pieces on January 18 or February 15 at 10 a.m.
Thanks!
