Coventry Technology Department News
WELCOME BACK!
The mission of Coventry’s technology department is to facilitate the integration of effective, existing, and emerging technologies in to the curriculum in order to enhance learning opportunities for all students.
Summertime Fun Times
The technology department has been working hard throughout the summer to enhance the technology environment in all of the buildings. From servers, to cabling, to new computers, the theme of this summer is “out with the old and in with the new”!
You will notice many differences including NEW teacher workstations for many of our staff members.
Summer 2014 Highlights
Turkeyfoot
- Removed all Macs- Sent to eWaste
- Replaced all teacher desktops to NEW PC's
- Upgraded Special Services desktops
- Added 8 NEW wireless accces points to 3rd grade
- Set up 2 computer labs
- Set up technology for all classrooms- projectors, elmos, etc.
- Collected all teacher laptops
Erwine
- Removed all switches
- Removed fiber
- Removed phones
- Collected all teacher technology for safe storage
- Removed all Smartboards and projectors
- Dissembled 3 computer labs
- Terminted AT&T lines
- Removed all TV's- sent to eWaste
- Removed copiers- placed at other bldgs
- Collected all teacher laptops
Middle School
- Removed all old teacher PC's
- Switched out all CRT monitors to flat panels
- Removed all TV's- sent to eWaste
- Collected all teacher technology for safe storage
- Removed all Smartboards and projectors
- Dissembled 4 computer labs
- Removed all TV's- sent to eWaste
- Upgraded Special Services desktops
- Added NEW wireless access points to modular classrooms
- Replaced all teacher desktops to NEW PC's
- Set up 5 computer labs
- Set up technology for all classrooms- projectors, elmos, etc.
- Collected all teacher laptops
High School
- Switched out all CRT monitors to flat panels
- Collected all teacher technology for safe storage
- Removed all old teacher PC's
- Dissembled 3 labs
- Replaced all teacher desktops to NEW PC's
- Set up technology for all classrooms- projectors, elmos, etc.
- Added NEW wireless access points to 4th grade academy
- Set up 4 computer labs, including one in 4th grade academy
- Set up short throw interactive projectors in 4th grade academy
- Upgraded Special Services desktops
- Collected all teacher laptops
- Remove all TV's- sent to eWaste
District Wide
- Migrated from Coventry's old domain to NEOnet's
- Upgraded over 400 student machines
- Upgraded over 100 teacher and administrator laptops
- Replaced 110 teacher workstations with NEW Dell Computers
- Replaced 160 student workstations with NEW Dell computers
- Dissebled 11 computer labs:
ER- 3
MS-4
HS- 3
- Assembled 13 computer labs:
MS- 5
HS- 4
4th Grade Academy- 1
- Transferred phones from Erwine- placed in 3rd grade classrooms and 3 modulars at MS
- Updated school website- removed Erwine, updated staff, created link for video feed, student fees portal, back to school section
- Updated various programs such as My Learning Plan and Blackboard Connect (all call system) to reflect staff and student changes
- Added 25 new wireless access points (4th grade & modulars)

New Network Login for Staff
Steps to login to your district computer --laptop or desktop:
1. Hit “control – alt – delete”
2. Click ‘OK’ to accept the “This is a private computer system owned by Coventry Local Schools” agreement message.
3. Enter your Username and Password
Username:
cv_FirstInitialLastName
Password:
Same as email password
NEW Network Login for Students
K-12 Student Logins
cv_firstinitiallastname (cv_kkendrick)
Password=
First initial of first and last name followed by student ID number (kk123456)
Accessing the Internet
Desktop Computers
Going to Blocked Internet Sites
When going to Internet sites that are blocked, teachers must hit “login” in the center of the page.
- Username = cv_kkendrick
- Password = email password
IMPORTANT
o Teacher workstations in classrooms are unfiltered to allow for unlimited access to websites for educational purposes. At NO TIME should any student be using a teacher’s computer. This is a critical violation of the AUP.
o Teachers should NEVER leave any of their passwords exposed by displaying them in a visible location (such as a post-it note).
Student and Staff Wifi Login
- Go to CoventryData
- Authentic with email username and password
You can use Coventry Data for mobile devices as well. This network is secure and filtered—you will not be able to access sites such as YouTube or Facebook.
Guest Wifi
- Students and guests in our buildings use covguest wifi.
- The password is gocomets (all lower case).
Staff may use this wifi network as well. This network is not as secure, but it is filtered—you will not be able to access sites such as YouTube or Facebook.
EMAIL Password
Your email password more important than ever!
To gain access to your email account, login at:
https://mail.neonetda.org or www.coventryschools.org (look under FOR STAFF)
You can change your password from your email account.
NOTE: Changing your email password will also change your network password, wifi password and Progress Book
