Get Ready for the Read-A-Thon
Come on out and support the Educational Foundation of the Chesters Read-A-Thon! The Read-A-Thon begins on Monday, Nov. 12th and information packets came home today with your children. Let's support our students and show that Chester readers are AWESOME! All students who participate in the Read-A-Thon are entered into a raffle and have the chance to win - an iPad, a Sky Zone gift card, NJ Devils tickets, a Circle Lanes family pass, an AMC gift card, a Learning Express gift card or Liberty Science Center tickets. The homeroom (K-5) with the highest participation rate will win a $100.00 Amazon gift card.
The Educational Foundation of the Chesters offers so much support and so many enrichment activities for our students, including the Model UN Club at BRMS and the Kinetics Club at Dickerson School and the Chess Club at Bragg School. In addition, they recently funded a grant for electronic music equipment for Mr. Cerulo's band at Bragg School. So make sure you sign up to show our appreciation, raise additional funds, and READ!

Chester School District Wins Bronze Award from Sustainable Jersey
For the second year in a row, the Chester School District was awarded the Bronze Award from Sustainable Jersey for our ongoing efforts at creating sustainable programs that are environmentally conscious to the benefit of our students and faculty. "Sustainable schools provide a healthy environment, conserve resources and continually improve the well-being of the community. We are proud of the leadership of the Boards of Education and their Superintendents, as well as the contributions of principals, teachers, education support professionals and parents in this effort," said Dr. Lawrence S. Feinsod, NJSBA Director, "Congratulations to the 111 schools that achieved Sustainable Jersey for Schools certification in 2018." On Oct. 23, 2018, the certified schools and their districts were recognized at a reception held during NJSBA Workshop 2018 in Atlantic City.

Chester PTO and the Educational Foundation of the Chesters
The Chester PTO and the Educational Foundation of the Chesters remain two of the most essential elements of the Chester School District for their continued support of our students and faculty. In essence, so many of our most engaging enrichment activities and many of our foundational programs come directly from their support. This includes athletic and club stipends for our teachers, cultural arts programs, school supplies and materials. I urge you to support and join both of these worthwhile organizations. More information about joining the PTO and the Educational Foundation can be found on our homepage under the Parents tab.
