Science & Social Studies
We did some fun experiments this week and learned that sound is a vibration! We also learned about sound waves and that sound needs something to travel through. For example, you cannot hear in space because there is no air! We will have one more experiment next week.
Next week, we will also be working on maps of the states and capitals. Each student will be completing their own map to take home so they can study it. They will be sent home next Thursday.
Envisions Math
We will take our Topic 7 test on Monday. We will practice 2 digit multiplication for the rest of the week and begin Topic 8 upon our return. I will send home Topic 8 practice pages over Christmas break in case you'd like to take a look at them. Remember to have your child keep practicing their math facts. They love "First In Math" and it would be great for them to practice at home if you have access. Thanks for your support!
Wonders
In Wonders we are working hard on summarizing stories. Each student has begun a new chapter book. After their daily reading, they reflect and write a short summary of their reading focusing on characters, setting, and plot. We finished "Superfudge" by Judy Blume in class. The kids and I were so excited to start the next Judy Blume book, "Fudge-A-Mania" that I gave them their Christmas presents early. I told the kids to read the book and after Christmas break we will start "Double Fudge" as a class.
