We will gather your supplies and bring them to your car. We know that traffic can sometimes back up, and we ask for your continued patience and support as we navigate this rather unique school year. Thank you for your partnership, support, and dedication to Husmann, our staff, and of course, your children (our students.)
Erin's Law - Parent Videos and Q&A Virtual Session
In response to the state mandate of educating students about Erin’s Law, District 47 will again host the Be Seen and Heard© 2.0 program, a prevention-oriented child sexual abuse awareness program for students in grades K-8. The program is designed to create an age-appropriate, safe and engaging environment where students will learn about the difference between safe and unsafe touch, and the importance of having a trusted hero, someone a child trusts and can turn to for help. The presentation will be delivered to students in January 2021.
Parents/guardians are invited to learn about the Be Seen and Heard©2.0 curriculum by watching a brief video. To address any questions from parents after watching the video, two optional 30-minute Q&A sessions (English/Spanish) will be held virtually via Zoom on Monday, December 7. No registration is required but parents should watch the video prior to attending the Q&A session. See below for links.

STUDENT AND FAMILY ENGAGEMENT
Turkey Coloring Contest
We have a Husmann winner for the Turkey Coloring Contest that I do each year! Dylan Ackerman from Mrs. Coss' kindergarten class has won a $100 Visa gift card!!
This year, students sent me a photo of their picture and then I submitted it on the company's Facebook page. The company then did a random draw for the winner, and Dylan's was selected!
Thank you to everyone that sent in their picture this year! We can't wait until next year!
Husmann Cougars

HPTO
News from the HPTO
Hello families! Last year, many of you so generously donated to our silent auction for the Fun Fair. Due to COVID, this event never happened, and we will not be permitted to host it this year either.
We are brainstorming other ways the PTO can effectively use your donations to fundraise for the school year. However, we also recognize that you donated these items with the silent auction in mind. At this time, we are asking that any parent who would like your donation returned to you, please reach out to us at husmannpto@gmail.com by December 31, 2020. Any donations that remain after that point will be put to use for other PTO fundraisers.
Our PTO has been reviewing our bylaws this year and have discovered a large need for updates, especially with an addition to a clause that would cover pandemics. We are having a special bylaws meeting on December 16, 2020 at 7 PM via Google meet. At this meeting we will be voting on the attached proposed changes in regards to the attached current bylaws. If you are interested in joining this meeting please email us at HusmannPTO@gmail.com with the subject "bylaws meeting invite".
Thank you for your time,
Your 2020-2021 Husmann PTO board
Author Visit
Newly published Author, Byron Gifford, will be having a virtual visit with Husmann students on Friday, December 11. Byron’s book “Life with Graffy” reflects on discovering bravery in a new town that, at first, feels lonely after a family’s move to a new home. The HPTO will be taking orders for signed copies of “Life with Graffy”. All book orders will be delivered to students in January. Please fill out the order form at the following link: https://forms.gle/Hs5yZ3Te8LsTCeZn7. Once you fill out the form, please send $8.00 via PayPal, using the “to a friend” option, to: husmannpto@gmail.com. All students ordering before December 10, 2020 will be put into a drawing to have a Zoom lunch with the author following the visit. Details will be emailed to the winners. The HPTO is also sponsoring a coloring contest for all students K-2 and a letter writing contest for students 3-5. The winners will receive a free signed copy of “Life with Graffy”. Details on this contest will be available from your child’s teacher on Seesaw.
Husmann Parent/Guardian Virtual Fitness Class
Hey there Husmann parents, caregivers, and staff! We know this year has been a struggle, to say the least. We recognize that you are giving it your all to make sure this year continue to be the best year that it can be. Because of this, one of our generous PTO members has offered to do something for YOU! That's right--this activity isn't for the kiddos; it's for the adult in their life--YOU! Samantha Morton is offering virtual fitness classes for all Husmann adults starting TOMORROW! Classes will be held twice a week (one early bird session and one for the later crowd) for anyone who is interested. The best part? It's completely FREE!!! Modifications will be offered for all skill levels.

Amazon Smile
Before you start (or for some of you—FINISH) your holiday shopping, please read this!
Are you looking to support your local school or non-profit organization? What could be easier than earning money by SHOPPING from your own home? Simply shop through Amazon.com/smile! If you aren’t already supporting your favorite charity, please considering selecting Husmann Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization as your charity. .5% of all qualified purchases will go directly to our PTO. How easy it that? If you have the app, you can set it up to automatically shop through Amazon Smile every time you shop. I don’t know about you, but I feel like I could fund the year for PTO with all the purchases my family makes!
