Super Sharp
1. On April 20, EdNC is hosting a panel discussion on the topic of how education and industry can improve the pathways of opportunity for women and persons of color into STEM fields, and Ms. Sharp is one of the panelists! We know she will represent WCS well!
2. Hunt HS History Teacher Morgan Stephenson wanted to Shout Out! Ms. Sharp for being so helpful and supportive through virtual learning. Ms. Stephenson shared that any time she has a technology issue or needs to ask a question, Ms. Sharp is always happy to help!
Book Battle
"Shout Out! to District Media and Technology Coordinator Heather Pennica for leading the first ever Virtual Battle of the Books for our elementary schools! The event was full of extra surprises from book authors sending well wishes to dance offs with Associate Superintendent Dr. Cheryl Wilson! The event could have easily been cancelled, but under Mrs. Pennica’s leadership, it thrived! Congratulations to the team from Gardners ES led by Media Coordinator Melissa Wilber for winning today’s event!" - From Executive Director of Technology Matthew Mayo
Exceptional Start
"Shout Out! to Wells ES Exceptional Children's Teacher Saleta Bynum! Last spring, she was hired as a new teacher to teach a self-contained classroom of students. Her first day teaching at Wells ended up being the day before school buildings closed due to COVID-19. Ms. Bynum had to learn how to teach EC self-contained students virtually as well as learning all of the pieces of EC. When students returned to the building she taught face-to-face, virtually and remotely. She has engaged the students in her class, and they are having fun without even realizing they are learning. The kids are making huge progress, and they are so happy to come to school. WCS and all of the EC kids at Wells are lucky to have her!" - From EC Elementary Program Coordinator Staci Fowler
