Churchill was known for his ability to inspire people in time of hardship and his relentless passion and for not talking defeatist talk during war (WW2). He was in fact the Prime Minister of Britain at that time. The previous Prime Minister was Neville Chamberlain, he signed a document that gave Czechoslovakia over to the Nazis'. When the Nazis invaded Poland Chamberlain declared war on the them, but he soon found our that he was ill equipped for the task of saving Europe from the Germans. The same day that Hitler invaded the Netherlands, Belgium, and Holland Chamberlain lost confidence from the house of commons. Churchill was then promoted to Prime Minister because he was known as a good military leader.
