MLK's March on Washington
March for EQUALITY!!!
Martin Luther KIng Jr. March
On August 28, 1963 MLK did a march in Washington D.C. More than 200,000 Americans gathered for a rally known as the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. This march is known as a key moment for the United States.
Changing lives for Africans Americans and Minorities
African Americans lives changed by showing that there was hope, belief in the democratic process, and faith in the ability of black and whites for racial equality. Also the minority groups thought that it showed that no matter who you are everyone deserves and equality among each others regardless of skin color.
Working Together
Whites acted against this act while mostly blacks and minority groups supported this march. Then that's when the NAACP ( National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference put aside their long standing rivalry, black and white groups across the country were urged to attend, and make sure that it was a grateful event.
Even though great leaders such as President John F. Kennedy and Roosevelt showed very little enthusiasm. All black leaders knew that that they would not be ignored by anyone.
