Ringing in 2019 - Happy New Year CMS Families...
Parents & Guardians:
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday break. As 2019 swiftly approaches, I can’t help but to reflect upon all of the great things that happened during 2018 – there are too many to count. Anyway, I wish everyone a safe and fun New Year’s Eve and a happy, healthy and prosperous 2019. We are all very excited to see the students on Wednesday, Jan. 2.
Again, Happy New Year to all of our CMS families…

Special Happenings:
The Learning Academy
We are starting a new initiative called The Learning Academy. We will be offering this program for all students who have dropped below a 70 average in any content area. This program will run on Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays starting on January 7th. The idea behind this program is to help catch students who are falling behind and provide them with a platform that will support their overall learning. Teachers will identify these students and we will be developing support plans. As a parent, you will be contacted if your child fall into this category. Both Mr. Olson and I are very excited to assist in their educational journey. Please e-mail me at dpackard@dcrsd.org if you have any questions…
Attention 8th Grade Students: PSAT Opportunity
Students have been given the opportunity to sign-up for the PSAT test over the last month. The test will be administered on Wednesday, February 27th here at CMS during the day. If you have questions, please e-mail Mr. Daley mdaley@dcrsd.org or Mrs. Dragon edragon@dcrsd.org
IXL Platform
As a school, we have purchased a skill-based learning program that allows students to hone in on their specific English Language Arts and math skills. This program offers us tremendous benefits as it allows for students to practice skill development at any time. It also allows for students to go well beyond their current learning levels and really extend their overall learning. This tool in no way replaces the day-to-day teaching that goes on in the classroom, but it does give the teachers an additional tool to enhance their overall lessons. We are excited to provide this opportunity for all of our students. Every student has an account. Below is the link to the IXL website:
