Our School Year Crosses the Halfway Point
As January rolls into February, and Punxsutawney Phil, our country's beloved groundhog, informed us that we need to endure six more weeks of winter, it is clear that our school year has crossed the midway point. While Covid-19 is still present in our community, the latest surge seems to be rapidly declining, and we look forward to a time when Covid-19 is a distant memory. This also marks the start of the third marking period for our students and the beginning of the second half of the school year. Spring athletics and warmer weather cannot be far behind.
We are happy to report that our Early College Program (ECP) partnership with Middlesex College is off to a great start and continues to grow. As our secondary students begin the process of creating next year's class schedules, school counselors are available to advise students on their options with this program. Please speak to your child about the benefits of this program. We are also planning an informational session for all interested parents and students. The ECP enables our students to graduate with both a High School Diploma and an Associates's Degree at significant savings and also provides our students a competitive college advantage. More information on this program can be found here.
We also continue to make progress on our Middle States District-Wide Accreditation process and hope to have rough drafts of our district's Strategic Plan by this summer. As you are probably already aware, surveys have been distributed to staff, students, and community members to solicit their input as part of this process. As you receive more information related to this project, please try to participate to the greatest extent possible. We value your input. More information on the Middle States Association can be found here.
Despite the recent snowstorm, the 12-classroom building addition at the Lincoln Elementary School remains on schedule to open in September 2022. The steel structural framing is slated to be erected in the near future and from that point on, things should progress rapidly. For an up-to-date view of the activity at the site please click on this link.
In summary, as we enter the second phase of the 2021-2022 school year, please know that our school administration, teachers, and staff are always here to help and that we are truly partners in your child's education. We look forward to continuing to work together to provide superlative educational experiences for the children of Edison Township and enabling everyone to continue to Shine Bright!
