Join the OMS PTA
We invite you to join the OMS PTA for the 2021-22 school year. In the past, the OMS PTA has organized VIP Day, the Color Run, Teacher Appreciation meals, funded 7th and 8th grade student field trips, teacher grants, and donated classroom equipment. As a member of the PTA, you have a say in helping us shape PTA programs and determine where PTA funds are allocated. We need your support!
PTA Membership is $10/family for the year. Scan QR code or go to website to join. https://omspta.memberhub.store/
Important Parent Reminders
Morning Announcements: Did you know you can read our daily announcements? The announcements read to students each morning are also available on the OMS website so families can also stay informed. Click here to see a sample
Lunch seating: Next week students will be allowed to shift tables at lunch. We do this 4 times per year to give students the chance to sit with other friends at lunch. Students do not need to shift tables if they do not want to and we will maintain a limit of 6 students per table.
Bus route information UPDATED 9-15-21: District 58 recently updated our bus routes and some routes may have minor changes. Please make sure that your child(ren) know their OMS bus number(s) and pick-up and drop-off locations. We want to make sure that all our bus students get to their correct bus quickly and efficiently.
Early Bird bus routes (EB 1&2)
Face Coverings: Students and staff are required to wear approved face coverings while at school. The district will be providing disposable face coverings for students who forget to bring one. Students will be able to remove their masks when outside the building for PE. Classes will take outdoor mask breaks as needed and we highly recommend having several face coverings for students to rotate especially during warm weather.
Water bottle: All students are encouraged to bring a refillable water bottle to school. Because of covid regulations our water fountains are turned off but the water bottle fillers in each hallway are working. Parents can purchase a plastic refillable bottle at Target and Walmart for as little as $1.
Activity bus: The activity bus for OMS will begin this week. Students that stay after school for clubs, sports, extra help, or detentions can take the activity bus home at 4:00 PM.
Halloween Costume Guidelines
Students at OMS will be allowed to dress up for Halloween on Friday, October 29th: If you wish to participate in Halloween dress-up day, please follow these simple guidelines to keep things safe and appropriate for the school setting.
- Be tasteful and sensitive in your costume selection, school dress code DOES apply:
- No weapons or potentially dangerous items.
- No glorification of violence
- No costumes that are offensive to others

- Students must wear an approved face mask that covers their mouth and nose - even if they have a Halloween mask.
- You must be able to see safely. You may not wear anything that blocks your vision. Any type of Halloween mask must be removed while in class.
- You must arrive to school in your costume. You will not be allowed to change or apply makeup at school. Glitter is not allowed.
