Here is what’s new for Lyon County 4-H
FairEntry VS 4-H online
In Fair Entry you register to participate in the fair. It tells us what you are planning to show at the fair.
If you ID-ed your animals in 4-HOnline or selected project areas of interest, you now need register for the classes you are planning on showing in FairEntry.
Fair registration deadline is July 8.
Premium Book and Fair Registration
We are excited to release the 2023 Premium Book ! We encourage you to peruse the Premium Book as you consider which projects to tackle this year.
FairEntry will be live and available to register for the fair beginning Tuesday, May 16th. FairEntry will close on July 8th at 11:59 p.m.

Are you interested in working for 4-H at the State Fair during one of our encampments? We need you!
We need you! In order to offer meals, support and programming to 4-H'ers at the Minnesota State Fair, we need additional staff.
Apply today! Each year, we hire 150 employees to make the state fair experience happen for 4-H’ers. Those jobs include food service, maintenance, exhibit assistants, livestock exhibit assistants, dorm staff, activities staff and more.
Livestock Clipping/Fitting Demonstration
Come join us for a livestock clipping and fitting demonstration at the Lyon County Fairgrounds on July 17th, 2023.
This event will give 4Hers an opportunity to gain skills and knowledge in fitting and clipping beef, dairy, goat, and sheep through demonstrations put on by experienced individuals.
Where: Lyon County Fairgrounds in the livestock arena.
When: July 17th, 2023
Beef: 10 - 11 am
Dairy: 11 - 12 pm
Goat: 2 - 3 pm
Sheep: 3 - 4 pm
July Cloverbud/ New member Fair Orientation night
Cloverbud Connections and New Member Fair Orientation
This month, Cloverbud Connections will also welcome any new members who have never attended a fair or have been to one or two fairs. We will meet at the 4-H building at the Lyon County Fairgrounds. You will get a tour of the fairgrounds and learn what you need to do on static entry day and for animal shows. We will also have a demonstration of conference judging with our ambassadors, where parents and 4-Hers can see how conference judging happens. If you would like to give it a try, bring a project exhibit with you!
We will be exploring the 4-H project area of Outdoor Adventures on Monday July 10, from 5:30-6:30 PM at the Lyon County Fairgrounds
Minimum of 8 participants to hold event
Ambassador Meeting for July 18 at 5:45pm
There will be an ambassador (Grades 6-13) meeting on July 18 at the Lyon County Ext. office. We will be finalizing county fair ambassador Participation and discussing a multi county fall get together!
Program resources Available
We have project resource books available at the Extension Office. These resources will guide you through beginning a new project and can help you further develop and elevate current projects. We have created a "library" for our resources: https://z.umn.edu/projectresources Please explore the library, and, if you would like to explore a resource, contact the office to check out the resource, or we will scan and email the resources for you so that you can make use of them. Ribbon Auction Scholarship
Calling all 4-H Seniors! Wouldn’t an extra $250 be awesome for your first year of college or Vocational-Technical College? Take a couple of minutes to apply for the Ribbon Auction Scholarship.
