Join Dr. Tisherman as he discusses Saline Suspension!
Emergency Preservation and Resuscitation
Dr. Tisherman, a professor at Pitt's School of Medicine, will give a speech about the novel technique commonly known as "saline suspension", but referred to as "emergency preservation and resuscitation" by Tisherman and his fellow researchers. This method involves pumping cold saline water through the veins of trauma patients to protect the heart and brain while surgeons repair damage. Researchers and surgeons are currently testing this technique in UPMC Presbyterian's emergency department with the hope of saving lives of critically ill patients.
