From the Principal's Desk...
And will do greater ones than these
Dear Parents and Guardians,
There are and there have been so many things, events, experiences that are completely out of the realm of all that we have known in the past. It’s not just how different school is; it’s our entire world. In the midst of this, I am amazed and humbled by the kindness and generosity that I see all around me. We are in this together, and I hope and pray that when we have emerged from this crisis we will remember and recognize what we have seen, heard and experienced.
This weekend we have the opportunity to remember, celebrate and thank our mothers. Even those of us whose mothers may have passed on many years ago can celebrate the love and generosity that they gave to us. In a world that is constantly changing, the love of a mother does not. I still cook and share with my adult children and my grandsons the recipes that my mother taught me how to make. A mother’s love is not limited to this world alone.
On behalf of St. John the Baptist School, I want to wish all mothers and grandmothers a most happy and blessed Mother’s Day. Each one of you is a constant presence in this world. I recognize that many of you as mothers and grandmothers are not only working but also helping support and teach your sons and daughters. You are a gift.
In this Sunday’s Gospel (JN 12:44-50), Jesus reminds His disciples, “Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes in me will do the works that I do, and will do greater ones than these.” How many times have our mothers and grandmothers done far more than we could have imagined possible.
This Weekend may we all be filled with gratitude for the gifts, blessings and sacrifices that mothers and grandmothers have made and continue to make for us. Please take the time to express in person or from afar your love and gratitude. And if, like me, your mother has passed on, say a prayer of thanksgiving. In so doing, we affirm this truth that they will do greater ones than these.
Peace,
Dan Minelli

Rosary Book/App for Catholic School Families
On A Mission to Love is a book and also a free app that was created for Catholic schools and families as a way to engage children with images, music and the voices of children praying the rosary. The children heard on the app are from the Cincinnati Archdiocese’ own Royalmont Academy. The professional recording was done by Cincinnati filmmaker Nick Staresinic.
The app is available in both the Apple App or Google Play stores. For more information, please visit On a Mission to Love.
