Hohnbaum's Happenings

We had senior meetings right before spring break to communicate out the graduation procedures, including Senior awards night being May 25th at 6 PM in the SHS cafeteria. The last day for seniors will be June 10th. Students who want to walk at graduation must make sure they have all necessary credits and grade issues resolved by Midnight on Monday June 6th. On that day they will attend their morning classes and then after lunch head to the stadium for graduation practice. Students must also participate in graduation practice at 12:15 PM on Friday June 10th if they want to participate the next day. Graduation will be Saturday June 11th at 2 PM.

We are gearing up for forecasting, and over the next few weeks your students will be coming home with more information and a forecasting sheet to be signed. Please take time to discuss with them their progress toward graduation and if you have any questions about being on track and forecasting, please call our counselor, Mrs. Monroe, 971-261-6970.

SSD Drug Task Force

One of the hot topics that we have as a staff been wanting to address is the rise in drug use in our community, particularly in our youth. We as a district want to find ways to address these issues head on, and provide help for everyone, from students and parents who know others who are using drugs to young people who don't know how to break the cycle of addiction. We are creating a district task force to help start the process of eliminating drugs in our community. If you are interested in joining the task force, which is made up of staff members, students, parents, and board members, please come to our first meeting which will be held on April 20th at 4 PM in the SHS cafeteria. For more info, please contact the main office.

Technology

A few items of news and notes:

Cell Phones - Cell phones continue to be a hot topic at school. They are rarely if ever needed at school because students can do all the required items for class either on paper in class or on their chromebooks. Please continue to have conversations with your student(s) about cell phone use in the classroom.

Chromebooks - We are in desperate need of chromebooks and chargers. If your student has EXTRA chromebooks and chargers from the last two years of remote learning lying around your home and they belong to the district, please return them as soon as possible, thank you. Student will continue to need a chromebook and charger for regular school work, but some students have borrowed extra chargers and chromebooks over the course of the pandemic and we would love to have them back, thanks!

Thank you

Thank you for all your support and for being a partner in your child's education.
