PhD candidate and rapper Enongo Lumumba-Kasongo will discuss how rap music allowed her to embrace her emotions and find her voice. Come listen to her amazing personal story and some of her original music about what it is like being black in America. Free lunch will be provided. Sponsored by Cornell Minds Matter.
Commemoration March | Friday, April 15th 4:30pm | Wari House
Join BSU for their march to commemorate the Willard Straight Hall Takeover! The march will begin promptly at 5pm and will be leaving from Wari located on North Campus. The members of BSU will march in solidarity to Willard Straight Hall on Central Campus.
Latinx Activism During the Civil Rights Movement | Friday, April 15th 5pm | Art Gallery, Willard Straight Hall
LAL will discuss the issues Latinx people faced (especially students) during the Civil Right Movement. Latinx students united to fight the injustices and gave rise to the Brown Berets and the Young Lords. Sponsored by La Asociación Latina.
Open Mic Night & Marginalized Voices: (Q)PoC Performances | Friday, April 15th 5pm-7:30pm | Bears Den, Willard Straight Hall
A showcase of Queer and/or PoC talent (past and present)! Students will read both their original works as well as famous works from queer and/or people of color poets, novelists, and writers. Additionally, students can choose to perform songs, dances, or showcase artwork. Sponsored by Haven: Cornell's LGBTQ+ Student Union.
