April 2017
April is National Poetry Month!
What's so special about April 27??
I encourage everyone to print a poem, keep it in your pocket, and share it with your classes that day! If you want some ideas, you can find great lesson ideas and ready-to-print poems here. The idea is to just spread the love of poetry and have a little fun too. Oh! And don't forget to share with the Twitter hashtag #pocketpoem.
I'm working with some classes to create Blackout poetry this month...be on the lookout!
If students can use these five testers for what they're reading, it will help them sift through the "fake news" and locate the quality information they need.
And I have LOTS more resources to share with you and your students. Please see me to set up a lesson about this important issue!
This is also available for students from my "Research Help" symbaloo on the library website.
"Kids Still Prefer Paper Books to Screens"
- Filtering News and Information
- Exercising Civic Freedoms
- Navigating Today's Information Landscape
- How to Know What to Believe
If this is something you would like to pursue with your class, please let me know and I'll help you get started! Watch a video of this FREE product!
This rich resource has so much to share with students, but my favorite piece is the front page news collection. Here, you can search by dates and region of the world. Students can view the front page of thousands of newspapers! This is a wealth of knowledge!!
