Message from Principal Emily
I realize that there are a lot of mixed feelings in regards to the latest news that Butte County has moved into the red tier and that we may have the opportunity to return to the district adopted Modified Traditional in-person instructional model. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or concerns that you have. Some have asked how it was determined that we would move to a Modified Traditional in-person instructional model.
The Chico Unified Stages of Re-Opening were aligned to the county-wide status as defined by the Health Department. Moving to a Modified Traditional AM/PM model is the Stage 2 (now Red) reopening plan as voted on by the Board of Education this summer.
Here is the link to the stages of reopening as approved by the Board on July 15, 2020.

I realize that it has been confusing and overwhelming to receive so many surveys and I do apologize for that. The latest survey that was sent home out via Aeries Communication on Thursday morning is more or less a re-enrollment survey. Now that we are moving towards an in-person model, we are asking families to commit to a decision. We are taking all of the safety precautions very seriously and feel confident that we can safely welcome students back on campus. Please click here to review the safety protocols that are in place to keep everyone safe. We do understand that some families may not be comfortable with that option. At this point, those families would have to enroll in Oak Bridge, CUSD's online learning school. We will happily save a spot for you here at Hooker Oak when you feel comfortable returning to in-person instruction.
If we do not receive a response by Monday, October 5th, we will assume that you wish to remain enrolled at Hooker Oak.
Here is the link to the survey.
As always, thank you for your patience, flexibility, and support. These are challenging and stressful times for all of us. Hang in there and remember that this too shall pass!

Hooker Oak Staff Spotlight
Eileen Cusick, Attendance Clerk
This is my 3rd year at Hooker Oak and I love working in the office. I enjoy interacting with staff, parents and students. I had a 20 year career as a social worker and school-based mental health counselor. After I retired I spent 5 years traveling throughout the country and overseas with a blues music recording artist. I lived in Mississippi for several years before I moved back to Chico 3 years ago to be near family. I have 2 sons and 2 grandchildren. Some of my interests are traveling, gardening, reading and walking in nature.
