Superior Band
Earlier this month, our Bronco Marching Band participated in the District 21 Marching festival, a yearly assessment of the program. The Marching Broncos received the highest rating of "Superior" in all categories. This is the first "Superior Sweep" since 2011. "The students have worked incredibly hard to achieve this goal and now have the honor of adding the coveted plaque to our band room wall," said Mrs. Chelsey Roberts, MHS Band Director. Marching Broncos competed, on November 18th at the Florida Marching Band Championships Semi-Finals in Tampa.
MHS FFA Sweeps
MHS FFA took six teams to Callahan for the NE Florida Fair Livestock Judging competition. MHS FFA Teams swept the contest winning 1st, 2nd and 3rd place! Our student members won all of the high individual placings, as well! "Livestock judging is a contest where members judge and place market animals based on their market value. We are very proud of our teams for representing MHS to the highest standards," said Mrs. Laura Rogers, MHS FFA Advisor. FFA Students competed on Nov. 4th at the Jacksonville Fair, placing in the top three spots, again!
Broncos Go Pink
Students and faculty had an opportunity to purchase Pink Ribbons from Volleyball team members for the 'Donna Deegan Foundation' for breast cancer awareness and research. The ribbons were displayed in front of the gym. The team surpassed their goal and raised over $600 for the foundation. A check will be presented to Donna Deegan at an upcoming school event. "Coach Prewitt's empathy and selflessness seem always to be on display and certainly serve as a guide for her students and colleagues," said Mr. Roger Dailey, MHS Principal.
