Plastic Free 2023
Their goals include:
- helping our school community transition away from single-use plastic;
- increasing knowledge and participation in the school composting program;
- connecting with the community over the Climate Smart Community initiative that began in 2019.
The group is looking to purchase water bottles to get started on the first goal. They were granted a $500 grant from the Wild Center and need $52 more for the purchase.

Mid-Term Exams
Mid-Term exams allow us to put together all of the information we have practiced so far this year. We can also learn and practice strategies that are helpful for finals.
The TLMHS Mid-Term exam schedule is located here. Mid-terms start Tuesday, January 24.
Morning pick-up and afternoon drop-off bus runs will continue during this week. There will be buses for middle school children at 11 am.
BOCES will remain in session; all children attending BOCES are expected to do so at their scheduled AM or PM sessions unless they are scheduled to take a midterm at TLMHS.
Middle school children should pick up their lunches before going home.
We know for many children, this may be the first week of this sort that they have encountered. I've asked our staff to share the following information with the children. I encourage you to do the same.
Big messages to share with children ahead of time.
- Prepare and do your best; there is a lot of time ahead to improve grades, etc...
- sharing some study tips may be helpful
- Feeling nervous is OK, and almost a good thing-it means you care (this is a great time to share and talk through how you handle being nervous);
- Remind children if they are feeling anxious (shortness of breath, weird tummy feeling), remember what you know and start there;
- take deep breaths to relax and ground oneself
- One thing at a time;
- They cannot have their phones on them during an exam.
Remind students to bring:
- writing utensils
- water and food-especially if they didn't order lunch
Remind students that:
- they report to the class where they take the exams;
- double-check with teachers on Monday
- midterm examination schedule
- when finished after the 1.5 hours, they go directly to the library or home--they cannot wander the halls or hang out in other classrooms;
- when in the hallways, they must be silent.

College and Career For Every Student Virtual Advisor Training
All teachers/parents/students are encouraged to sign up and check out the resources. There are a lot of valuable items that we are lucky to have access to.
The session starts with a live 30-minute opening session that shares the building blocks of college and career readiness. Following session one, participants engage in two pre-recorded 30-minute lessons that focus on practices like mentoring, Essential Skills, and steps to become ready for postsecondary education and the workplace.
The 30-minute live closing brings it all together and melds what participants learn into a plan to help students. Newly minted CCR Advisors leave with college and career mapping tools, a national network of CCR Advisors, and other resources to meet ongoing college and career readiness challenges.
These training sessions are accessible by completing this registration form.
You will choose which training you want to view, then click "next" and you will be guided to the link.
Be sure to save that link and then click "submit" on the form.
Once you view all sessions, complete the "Evaluation & Feedback" form located on the web page or you can access it here.
The training starts January 24 at 7:00 pm.
Registration is here.
Thank you for supporting our vision of helping students become college and career ready!
Health Classes
There were 8 different stations students engaged in. Stations included wearing Googles that distorted vision from different substances and having to do activities such as staking cups or walking in a line. Another station included the simulator car, with another including estimates of the percent of substances.
Class discussions were rich!
Athletics!
The Winter Sports season is moving along and giving us all something to come out and support!
Below is the tentative schedule for this week. We know that weather plays a factor, and Mr. Brown is always working to reschedule games/meets that get canceled due to weather.
Plenty more sports action is coming up, so stay tuned for updates. I like to get updates from the notify me section of this website!
Or- keep an eye on the athletics website or Section X BOCES schedule for the most up-to-date schedule.
Stay tuned, sports fans. As always, thank you for being an athletic supporter.

Attendance
Even as children grow older and more independent, families play a key role in making sure students access learning opportunities and understand why attendance is so vital for success in school and on the job.
Keep in touch: Be sure to reach out if there is something significant in your child's life that you feel we should be aware of.
Letters will be going home to families of children who have excessive absences. Our goal is to connect with you to make sure that we are working together to have your child in school.
You can report the absence by calling (518-359-3322) or using our email address: attendance@tupperlakecsd.net. When reporting the absence, please be sure to include:
- Student's name
- Reason for absence
