Issue 4
September 19, 2023
September has been a month of exciting events and opportunities for our students and staff. We have recently been notified that Cirby has once again, has received PLATINUM status for our PBIS program. PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports. It's our framework for supporting students in their academics, socio-emotional learning, and their behavioral support. We believe in rewarding students and being positive! There are four levels awarded, bronze, silver, gold and platinum. I am so proud of each staff member, each student and each family for helping us achieve this great honor! When you enter the office, you should see our banner and now we get to add another one!
Our commitment to academic excellence remains unwavering. Our dedicated teachers and staff have been hard at work preparing engaging lessons and providing support to ensure that every student reaches their full potential. I encourage parents and guardians to stay connected with your child's teacher and take advantage of parent-teacher conferences coming up in November.
Thank you for entrusting us with your child's education. Together, we will make this school year a successful and memorable one. If you have any questions, concerns, or even positive thoughts, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
Much appreciation,
Farah Friend | Principal

Staff Spotlight π¦
Cirby has been my home since 2006 when I started my teaching career 18 years ago. Cirby holds a special place in my heart especially since my own two children are Cirby Eagles! I have taught Kindergarten through Third grade. Third grade is my absolute favorite to teach because it was my most memorable year when I was a student. I loved my third grade teacher and actually still keep in touch with her. She was the reason I wanted to become a teacher! When I am not teaching, I am busy running my two children around to their sports and activities. In my free time I enjoy being outdoors and traveling!

Important Notice: Chromebook Care and Device Damage
Our school is reaching out today to address a concerning issue in our District since the beginning of the school year. Unfortunately, we have experienced significant damage to our student Chromebooks, with over 150 units requiring repairs or replacements.
While we understand that accidents can, and do, happen, we all must work together to ensure the longevity and functionality of these devices, as they are crucial tools for learning. To avoid further damage and inconvenience, we request your cooperation in taking better care of these devices.
Below are some important guidelines to share with your student to ensure the proper care of their Chromebook both at school and at home:
Handle with Care: Always treat your Chromebook carefully, avoiding drops, impacts, or rough handling.
Avoid Liquids: Chromebooks and liquids do not mix well. Please keep beverages and other liquids away from your device.
Gentle Cleaning: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean the screen and keyboard. Avoid using abrasive materials or cleaners that could harm the device.
Responsible Charging: Only use the provided charger and avoid overcharging your Chromebook. Remember to unplug it when fully charged.
Prompt Reporting: If you accidentally damage your Chromebook, please report it immediately to the Library Media Specialist. Do not attempt to repair it yourself.
Our current rate of device damage is unsustainable. As a result, it may take longer to replace a damaged Chromebook as we work diligently to repair existing devices and secure additional loaners. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and kindly request your patience during this time.
Remember that these devices are provided to all students to support and enhance learning, and we are committed to providing all with the tools they need for success. By following these guidelines and taking good care of all Chromebooks, we can minimize disruptions and ensure every student has access to a functional device.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. We appreciate your understanding and dedication to preserving these valuable resources.
