Are EEM updates needed?
Have you had any changes in your district or school entities since the beginning of the school year? If so, it is important that you update the Educational Entity Master to reflect these changes.
Please refer to the Are Your EEM Records Up to Date memo for further information.
Important Cybersecurity Information
In our current geopolitical climate, Cybersecurity is crucial. CISA, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, has put out the following statement: “While there are no current specific credible threats to the U.S. homeland, current geopolitical activities have highlighted the importance of staying vigilant and taking appropriate steps to reduce vulnerabilities whenever possible.”
Attackers generally follow the steps outlined to the right to compromise an organization. While the WISD Technology Department has deployed security tools and added restrictions to PowerSchool for some countries (i.e. Russia, Ukraine) to the perimeter defenses, we need each user to have their shields up to secure our data and systems.
Below are things you can do to keep your shields up:
- Secure your passwords with 12 character passphrases that are unique for each login
- Use multifactor authentication for email and other systems when available
- Log out of systems and never leave your device unattended.
- If you see something unusual, say something. Report it to ITSecurity or call the helpdesk - 734.994.8100 x 1286
- Think before you click. Exercise caution when opening emails from outside parties, particularly those that include links or attachments. Double check before you click
- Update your software to maintain the fixes for security for devices, phones, browsers, and mobile apps that may be used to access PowerSchool..
