A Little Background
I received a BS in Education at Texas Tech University in 2012, and a M. Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction at UT Arlington in 2017.
My husband grew up in UP and went through HPISD, and I am so excited to be a part of it now!
Language Arts Year Overview
Reading:
Each grading period, we will complete a novel study as a class. A lot of the reading will be done outside of class so that we can spend class time diving deep into the characters and plot. Students will benefit most from collaboration in class, and I will be available to help guide their thinking.
We will also be reading and analyzing different genres of text such as expository texts, poetry, drama, and literary nonfiction.
Writing:
The main focus for writing this year will be developing a clear and coherent expository essay. Each grading period, we will have a major writing assignment. More information will be sent when the assignment is closer.
We will spend time going through the entire writing process: planning, drafting, revising, editing, and producing a final draft.
Office Hours

Homework and Make-up Work
If your child in absent, I have make-up work available in folders in my classroom, or I have digital copies on my Google Classroom. Students have one day for every day they are absent to complete make-up work. It is the student's responsibility to get the missing assignments and turn them in.
